I need to write and essay for my philosophy class and my subject is as follows

"Russell thinks that we infer the existence of other minds from the argument from analogy. What would Ryle say about the need for this argument? Is he correct? Why?"

The articles were found in the Third edition classical and contemperary readings intro to philosophy by John Perry and Michael Bratman.

In Ryle's arguement he talks about Descartes Official Doctrine. Cans omeone give me some insight as to what this "Official Doctrine" is?

Also for those interested, please feel free to add your own perspective on the issue, thanks
