I work in a department store that has a dress code for the employees. For women, it says that we must be clean and "properly and professionally groomed" aside from what we can actually wear. No problem, I've never been unable to meet those simple requirements. My question is: I want to stop shaving. I may not like it and go back to shaving, but I want to at least try it and if I like it, I want to stick with it. When I say stop shaving, I mean legs, armpits, the whole kit and caboodle lol. Do you think that would violate the dress code my job has outlined? If they DO take issue with it, would there be any way around it? What would/do you do in this situation?
I think they mean your clothing honey,, not your body hair.. while im sure they would like someone with shaved legs. its appears they dont know the trends or style of our /European counterparts.. that dont shave..
No, they have the clothing part separate from that. They have guidelines for men & women's hair/facial hair/grooming and a different list for clothing. This is included along with "no unnatural hair colors, extreme styles, no visible tattoos" etc. They're much less restrictive about the clothing though, which is essentially, nothing too tight or skimpy or short. lol.
If its shaving alone. Then find some slacks, and tops that cover your Pits... there isnt much left to cover but your massive bush..
I just got back from Spain and all the ladies I saw shaved their legs. Plus they wore deoderant. Other than that, I have nothing to contribute to this thread. Carry on.
Yeah, talking about unshaved European women shows how out of date you are. Fashions are global. It seems to me that if a woman wants to go natural in a conservative environment, she has to dress pretty much as men do. That is, long pants and tops with sleeves, and just about everywhere permits the pants option these days. It's a choice that isn't offered to men--shave or cover up. For men it's just "cover up". And there are additional ways women can get by, like wearing tights, which works some times of the year. Or, get a job at a super-organic place where the dress code forbids shaven legs!
I have to wear pants if I shave my legs.. Or else nobody would get work done.. my legs are sexy as hell and Ima boy..
Im sure there are some places that would have no issue with it, but being your dealing with the public unless you can cover it up they prob wont let you do it. Esp sense most parts of NJ arnt that liberal. Society says women have to be clean shaven, just like most jobs dress codes for men say they have to be clean shaven.
Jobs that I have had would have no problem with body hair... but your work place sounds like they will object to it. Which I think is really really really sad.
i thought you were female .....i dont shave anything at all. except for some maintenance in one area....
your work sounds ridiculous if they are quietly trying to telling you that being natural is a no go! i say GO FOR IT! i let my body hair be free, i'm still a little shy with my legs still but am pushing myself.. i'll tell you at first you might feel uncomfortable and tell yourself 'oh i prefer being shaven' but in my situation i found that it really was just an excuse because i was scared of what people might say.. but it's been almost a year now and i love how much more time i have to do other things in stead of shaving, it's liberating, it's give me CONFIDENCE, my boyfriend doesn't love it but doesn't hate it, although he digs it in a way because he knows most people don't want you to not shave.. anyways, i'm blabbing on, GIVE IT GO.. your work place cannot tell you that you must shave your arm pits, or legs, and they won't know about your love spots. i'm happy to hear that you're considering doing this too!
one warning with tights: no white/cream/yellow if you have dark hair.. It can show through. and no tanks/ shells without a jacket (and keeping it on).
