Everyone here talks about Purple Haze like it's something special. I have a question: what do you think it is? PAX
All you would have to do is grow some haze outdoors and when the nights start getting cold the bud will turn purple.
and when it's hot the buds get red hairs! when it's mild you get the classic yellowey look. not making fun of "haze will turn purple when it's cold" as i have no experience or source as wether this is true or not
It is not true. If you try to grow a haze outdoors in a climate that gets cold enough at nights to turn the buds purple, the sativa will die before the buds even mature. My question is: why do people think purple haze is so special ? What I know about purple haze is that in the late eighties/early nineties a seed company in Amsterdam bred this strain. It was so named to capitalize on the song by Jimmi Hendrix. But- the strain was extremely difficult to grow- even indoors . It didn't produce much and the stone was nothing special I guess the hype over the name is still a factor today. PAX
well I guess you're describing the history of haze more..and where it started. I was always under the impression that the purple haze was like the best shit, and just because the bud is purple doesnt mean it's "purple haze"..I dunno, I once came across this stuff in philly that they were saying was P haze, it smelled like shit, literally..the smell was strong as hell and smoked great. Anyway, names don't really matter imo, since everyone just calls their stuff whatever they want to try and get more customers.
its nothing but ignorance pure and simple someone saying they smoked purple haze or talking about it at all other than calling it bunk is the sure sign of a rookie same thing with "dro" just dumb people. all these dumbass rappers make these gullible kids think "dro" (if used to actually refer to the hydroponic method used in growing) actually means anything to the quality of the bud. it doesnt the weed world is no more immune to hype and bullshit than any other industry
Well, traditionally purple haze is some really dank shit, but I've heard many stories about it being extinct. Whether it is or not, I'm sure the majority of the time someone calls a strain purple haze its not the real thing. But what does it matter, pretty much all purp tastes amazing, smells amazing, and smokes amazingly. So why does it matter if its true haze? If its purple its gonna get you fucked up.
oh shit i thought haze was indica. Its a fact that cold temperatures near the end of the budding cycle can cause the bud to turn purple.
there is no purple haze strain unless named after the song 'Purple Haze' which was a song by jimmi hendrix, describing an acid trip. the true purple haze is a song about acid.
So true. Yes, the true purple haze strain is extinct, for a while it was only available in clones from certain places. Nowadays people say they have true purple haze even if it's just purplish bud..
First off, is there a distinction between just "purp" and purple haze? Because this is some purp I just had: I've always thought of it as a strain of weed with high potency. With this it only takes a single hit to get me as high as a whole bowl of beesters. I believe purple haze exists but to say its the best weed is to be a noob. In Amsterdam it was typically the cheapest and lowest-grade weed available. That doesn't mean it sucks, that just means there's many strains better than it. It was probably named after the song by Jimi Hendrix. I had Bubble Gum Haze in Amsterdam and that shit tasted like bubblegum, if people can breed weed to taste like bubblegum they can sure as hell breed it to look purple, lol.
