i love the ramones. i do consider green day punk, well pop-punk, but if u really listen to em, u can tell they've been influenced by real punk rock.
the term "pop punk" is an interesting one. Surely bands like The Ramones and The Buzzcocks are pop punk? they wernt really political or anything. just wrote pop songs...
The clash are a band of absolute geniouses. They managed to extend from their punk roots to take in loads of styles, with reaggae an shit comin into a lot of the work off london calling. i love em.
O man The clash is a godly band, but on the topic of street punk the casualties, clit45, the unseen, all majorly sweet bands. but we must all remember is that punk is supposed to be different so we must watch how we distinguish punk, like look at NOFX vets. in the punk world but the style is way out of wack. i always find that people get to stuck on the deffinition of punk that they find correct

Crass were a unique band - don't know if they were ever heard much in the US. Otherwise - The Clash - esp. the 1st album - but get the UK version.
dead kennedys,rancid,dropkick murphys,anti-flag,the clash,raised fist,rattus,misfist,flogging molly,operation ivy,translplants,subs...and a whole lotta of finnish punk bands. just depends if all those are counted as punk.doesnt matter are they or arent they,but i still love to listen to them. always when talking about punk music,comes up,how people find it different.theres such a large range of different styles of punk music. annoys the shit out of me when people start to argue about what is and what isnt real punk.i cant stand skateboarding punk for example blink 182,sum41,but i suppose its still punk. yeah,anyway.good music is always good. sad to see,how theyve made punk music such a stylished and commercial thing.
