i can't imagine having any luck at a thrift store, usually all the dresses there are horribly amish. Try ebay- if you want a typical prom dress, something modern and "in style" search, ball gown or prom dress, if you want something retro though, try something like gunne sax, or vintage dress. it all depends on what style you want. there's tons of online shops you could look at as well...good luck. my prom dress sucked ass.

Definatly look at Ebay, but make sure you get exact measurements from them because it would be horrible for the dress to not fit, especially if you only have a week or two to spare.

do you know anyone whos high up in a non-profit or pr they usually know places that loan jewlrey and that will give discounts on evening wear. our company got me a deal on a designer evening gown last summer i walked out of the showroom with a 1000 dollar dress for 200 bucks it rocked.

I bought my dress and shoes at a Thrift store all for 3.50. It was a hit...Looked like something totally right out of the seventies. It rocked. I had so many compliments on it. Even if it's a little frumpy at first you can add your own touchees to it. I bought one dress for a dance once...it was plain burgandy with just a little knot at the bottom of the chest. I added some sequins to the bottom in a neat little pattern and rhinestoned under the busom. It looked awesome too...

Just be creative...even if you have a dress in your closet, you can spruce it up to look prom-ready.
