so i take part in what many of you hippy hipsters will find to be musical blasphemy. (and im posting this in here cuz, well, lets be honest the folks in the music forum all have angry wolverines up their twats, and you ppl are family) but i truely find quite a bit of "beloved" music to be kind of mediocre. im not saying that there is anything wrong with you folks out there you dig these bands/artists, but it just doesnt tickle my fancy. for example the 1st 2nd and 500th time i heard the grateful dead i bellowed an earth shattering "meh". pink floyd (at least the several albums ive heard) i found to be mostly boring and i found my mind wondering to some music that would please me, granted i love the movie, and a few of the songs i slightly enjoy. but i wouldnt waste space on an ipod for em. in fact most "classic" music i find pretty boring with The Doors being the only band i can get into ANY song of theirs. now ofc i understand that most of you probably wouldnt like 2/3 of the music i like. but, like an alcoholic ordered by the courts, i had to make my confession. now prepare the nails.
I can't stand Pink Floyd. Definately the most overrated band of all time. To be honest the only people I've known who really liked them were adults who used drugs often, and kids who wished they could use drugs. The Doors are crap.
Honestly, my favorite genre of music is wuss rock. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9P8e1EkZ1ug"]YouTube - david grey-this years love https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZLbUIa7exE"]YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.
I think the Grateful Dead are pretty boring as well. I love pink floyd and The Doors have some solid stuff but somewhat inconsistent.
i love floyd, definitely tickles my fancy all sorts of ways. grateful dead is a load of boring in my opinion. i used to listen to the doors when i was in 2nd grade i think. my cousin showed em to me so i got their first album. i think i'm gonna track that cd down
How dare you have different musical tastes than those we've told you to have... back to the debriefing chamber and its friendly electrodes and shiny rotating knives! You will conform to strict individuality like everyone else or pay the price! Yeah, that's right... we'll get your money ONE way or another!
Jim Morrison was an overrated failing screen writer and music writer.. if anything the rest of the band should be given credit for having to arrange the music around Jim's crappy poetry.. Pink Floyd is great.. love'em.. not a fan of the "pop albums" like The Wall.. DSOTM.. Wish You Were Here..(i say Pop because pop refers to popular culture.. which these two albums definitely are) GD is amazing.. they did so many things that were far ahead of the times musically
Pink Floyd is the best band ever Grateful Dead are awesome The Doors are decent Alice Cooper is fucking awesome. Thin Lizzy is the most underrated band ever.
'what have they done to the earth what have they done to our fair sister ravaged and plundered and ripped her and bit her stuck her with knives in the side of the dawn and tied her with fences to the ground I hear a very gentle sound with my ear down to the ground we want the world and we want it we want the world and we want it Now? Nooooooooooowwwwwww!' Genius
Yea, I feel the same. They had some good songs. Meaning the band did great work. Same with Janis Joplin. She had one of the best bands during that time period, they were solid! As for her...I couldn't care less.
Good music is varied. it will be esiest to give you a small taste: Tool, Billy Talent, Sigur Ros, Amanda Fucking Palmer (dresden dolls counts), Birds of Tokyo, The Distillers, Emilie Autumn, Dir en grey (my favorite in a long list of amazing japanese music), Blind Melon, Bourbon Crow, Chiodos, Nathan Harms Presents(super obscure), Deadsy, the Newlydeads, Murderdolls, the Decemberists, brand new, Dredg, Hank Williams 3rd, Hole, L7, Jack Off Jill, Imogen Heap, Joe Purdy, Tom Lehrer, Tom Waits, Mankind is Obsolete, Mr. Bungle, At The Drive-In, Niyaz, Operation Ivy, PJ Harvey, Placebo, Primus (sucks), Queen Adreena, Joanna Newsom, the real mckenzies, Retard-O-Bot, Rise Against, Silverchair, the xx, Zombie Girl, and last but certainly not least: The Vandals
