1120 acres, for sale in the foothills of the Manzano Mts. Rolling Pastures to tree covered canyons, here in Albuquerque New Mexico, only 750 bucks per acre.... This would be great for any of us wanting to start a commune, and it's not to hot in the Mountains, about a 10 degree difference in temp compared to the city.... any one who would be intersted could PM me or post in this thread I'm talking about equal share for anyone who would throw down money..... and we could just buy it an acre at a time....... 750 bucks per acre for mountain territory is an offer we should'nt pass up....... People this is a great deal. Need to ask what part of the Monzano mountains, as most are quite far from Alb.- down by fourth of July ? - how much actually up into the mountains ? When I was looking out there 30+ yrs. ago a lot of the mountain land was in grants and could not readily be sold out of grant conditions, much of it backed up into gov land.& reservations. A word of warning - if too close to Alb you do have the atomic reserves stored under the Manzanos off the old weapons lab research grounds - as you go down Rt. 14, you see vents in the side of the hills if you are looking for them - the cement plant you need clearance to work there because it is part of the reserve. So be careful. Lived in Juan Thomas but the whole sedillo edgewood etc area has changed drastically since the days I wandered there in the 70's. Best of luck - there is also a 350 a. canyon land at the base of San Pedro mountains above cedar Grove - not yet advertised (damn though - I'm dated, have family in Cedar Grove and this was 3-4 yrs ago - how time flies aye ?)- asking $1000/a. which again is a great deal for out there - ... In the land of plenty iffn you don't have plenty, seems you don't get much - why I took the land back in ther finger lakes ... but my heart is still in the high desert mountains, and I have been enchanted.
I found the add in this weeks paper, the land is in the foot hills Of the Manzano Mnts. It's located off of South 14, between Tijeras and Estancia..... I'm fairly new to the area, It just seemed like a snag, 750 an acre.......

Now I'm not gonna be greedy, 1120 acres is a lot of land, and one thing I've been taught is not to use more resorces than needed, so we would,nt have to buy it all, just start small and expand...... This definitely does sound like a great deal. If the land is, in fact, safe to live on, I'd be interested to know how it has been used in the past. In other words, if organic growing is a possibility. Irrigation ditches? Water rights? As far as being greedy & using up too many resources, I dont think that would be an issue, brother. Say, for example, 100 acres were purchased collectively. If only 50 acres were needed for shelter, farming, grazing pasture, etc, the remaining 50 acres could be left in its untouched natural state forever. If anything, this would prevent careless commercial developers (or the government) from raping the land. Either way, you've caught my attention. New Mexico is a beautiful place...only been there once but fell in love! Spent a little time in Taos, then Arroyo Hondo at the former New Buffalo Commune. Wonderful energy!
Right on man, If I new there where more people interested, I'd take a look at the property and find out it's history, and your right about grazing , etc. we could even plant trees on some of the property........

Well, Some bad news, .....I was out and about last night, wasting time, and I seen a laser shoot from the monzano mnt. I asked my uncle what that was all about, and he said that the back side of the mountain is owned by the government, and that they shoot these laser signals to satalites, for repositioning, etc. Also, from what i understand, the mountain is hollow........ this really pisses me off..... But there is an alternitive. Remote Acreage, 160 acres,Mostly fenced, Old homestead still stands, Trees, sagebrush and pasture, $112,000 Productive hay farm, 150 acres, fenced, water rights, $225,000 800 acres, peaceful vally where elk graze. Old adobe home, corrals, new shop, barn and 3 wells. good fences, great horseback riding, near hunting and fishing, $599,900 Thats all for right now
Whoa wait - don't go off half cocked - yes the gov does own the mountains NEAR alb. but not down arround Torreon, Tajique area. Wonderful old chicano people, real people types own down there. Wonderful place - if that 1120 a. is still there; if nothing else. could you send me enough info so I could check it out myself. This is an opportunity you should check out - if you were talking North of the Isleta Track I would agree about the Gov.issue info - but below that not so. The 1120 a. still sounds wonderful to me, and I'd be willing to bet they would go down to $500/A. if you were buying it all - and if enopugh come together that's a possibility. But make sure you do the title search and there are no special clauses in whatever larger amounts of land you intend to buy - water and mineral rights etc.. Good luck to you keep us posted - please
Thanks man, I guess i was a bit irrational. But like I said, I'm kinda new to the area, so I don't know exactly where the property is.... But you seem to know a hole lot about the area, so I'll PM you with updates and questions, in the future. But I still need partners and help, after all I'm only 19 and don't have a good understanding of the "adult world" , so thanks again and I'll keep you guys informed.
Which price? The Monzano land is 750 per acre, that's it. you could buy one acre or five or a hundred, it's all the same per acre.
Just out of curiousity brother, what is your vision for this possible commune? I mean, everything sounds great so far...the land, the area, etc. I'm just trying to get a grasp of the whole picture.
Yeah,that's what I meant...I have seen lots sold for cheap,but only if you buy quite a few. Anyways,that's a great price...I hope you can figure something out,good luck
