    has anyone ever been camping there? For my birthday this summer some of my friends and I are planning on going camping... and Ive been looking for places to camp... ive been to the porcupine mountains before day hiking but have never camped there... I love it there its so beautiful... I was just wondering if anyone had ever camped there and what good camp sites there are... thanks much

    I wish I could offer a cool place, the closest I've camped to the Porkies was at Lake Gogebic (beautiful in it's own right). We made a day trip to Lake Superior one day and spent some time in the area, though I don' tknow where exactly (it was a good 7 or 8 years ago). Very beautiful up there, I think you've made the right choice! :)

    OOH thats cool... My family goes up to Lake Gogebic almost ever year... although my parents have grown out of there camping days so we stay in a cabin. Isnt it beautiful up their? I think up around there is my happy place! anyway thanks!

    Hell yeah it is. I remember we had a campsite right next to the lake, and I woke up early one morning, before the sun. Walked over to the shore to watch the sun rise over the lake (how fortunate! getting a site on the lake, AND having the view face East!). It was beautiful, I still sometimes go and look at the pictures I took, to take me back to that moment. It was so quiet and peaceful...
