People say they hate rap, with completely good reason. Theyve only heard whatever shit they play on MTV. most of these guys absolutely suck, either capitolizing on the fact that they're "thugs" or that that have insane amounts of money, can get women easily, or just playing off some shitty hook and a beat. Truely talented rappers are never recognized for what they can do. The popular rap groups suck as well. The following are a list of a few extremely underappreciated rappers/groups: Mos Def Wu Tang Clan Brother Ali Talib Kweli Immortal technique Razzelle (more admirable is his beatboxing skill) Gangstarr Atmosphere it just pisses me off... NOTICE: it says "A FEW" and "UNDER-APPRECIATED"
I've got special love for A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul. No matter how cheesy it sounds to some people who are used to the smoother more serious beats, Three Feet High and Rising always puts a smile on my face.
i agree mtv rap is a disgrace mobb deep was good shit back in the day but at the same time , most mainstream music is garbage it s sad but the truth
That was my first thought. As popular as Tupac is, he is still underrated and underappreciated. Also, I think Three Six Mafia is extremely underrated. Their singles aren't shit compared to their other shit, especially their old school shit. Mainstream rap fans need to be educated as to what constitutes actual talent, as opposed to that bitch ass club music with flat rhymes.
yea mainstream rap is really fucking horrible. i play: A Tribe Called Quest The Roots Wu Tang Boot Camp Clik (Heltah Skeltah, Black Moon, O.G.C, etc) Digable Planets Mos Def Artifacts Boogie Down Productions (KRS One) Camp Lo Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth real hip hop discussions
Nah, he is a wonderful rapper and an incredible artist, my favorite, in fact, and he doesn't get the appreciation he deserves. People think the rappers of today are talented and substantial and, that alone, is disrespectful to Tupac and other legendary rappers, because it trivializes the true essence of rap music and makes it look lame and ignorant. People seem to be forgetting about artists like Pac; The artists that actually have substance. In this way, Tupac is definitely underappreciated and underrated. He seems to be slipping out of the mainstream's eye, which is extremely sad. Hip-hop/rap is not what it used to be. It is too pop oriented, these days.
True.. and it's not just rap/hip-hop that is too pop oriented.. that's the case with almost all music today. The most popular rock bands nowadays are radio rock bands like RHCP, Greenday, etc.. MTV killed real music.
"video killed the radio star" People seem to be out to make money, as opposed to making art, which is a gyotdamn shame. Music just isn't "music" without substance. And today's music, regardless of genre, is definitely lacking substance.
everything thats been said here is totally true, real hiphop needs promoting to show people what it's really about and to get all that shit out of the charts. I hate artists that change their style completely just to get mainstream and make money. just a few underated hihop groups: jurassic 5 non phixion the fugees tribe called quest arsonists cypress hill
Non Phixion? lol soon as the day comes when censorship is done away with, then maybe, just maybe, you would hear a song by them on mainstream radio. (BTW, suicide bomber is the shit. At least i think that's what the song is called)
