So I was getting super baked with a friend of mine and we were talking about some really deep shit and my mind got stuck on this top. My friend goes you know man were animals. An then today thats all Ive been thinkin about. I mean seriously think about it. All the things that we call animals build nests and dens and everything just like we build houses. An they communicate to eachother to, so if we had been born as a bear or dog or something we would be able to communicate to each other and have friends and other animals that we fuck because were that species. So whos to say were even the superior lifeform on this earth.
well the way life works the most advanced species comes out on top which is us. Unless said species does something stupid to ruin it for everone then the simplest things come out on top and the whole cycle starts all over again. I think about that all the time. My buddy and I were baked one night and thinking how its really wierd that all these animals just claim their own space and build a house on it and then just live there in such close proximity to other animals but its common to never even speak with alot of them.
We have something all other animals do not have and thats the power to think of new ideas instantly and free will
what makes the human animal different is the ability to think in abstracts. we can find the best way across a fiery dungeon, weigh our risk/ benefit and act quickly. gee, if i go up the ladder theres a steam jet, but if i fall i have a good chance of landing on that platform. we can puzzle out a problem, and invent new things to make dealing with the problem easier. we have the ability to believe in things that we haven't seen, and deny things we saw but cant fathom. we kill for territory, food, mates, and ostracize the different. we are no better than our fellow animals, and we should strive to be no worse than them.
other animals do all those things, except perhaps for not believing in the unknown. most of you shouldn't bother with philosophy, you aren't cut out for it.
i don't see any chimps building cars besides, everyone should bother with philosophy. it expands minds and helps keep the memory sharp.
"I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species. I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to an area, and you multiply, and multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet, you are a plague, and we are the cure."
We think were the most advanced species but thats only through are way of looking at thangs. most of us wouldnt last a week in a jungle or wilderness and yet animals thrive in them. were the most advanced species i dont think so.
Chimps may not be able to build cars, but there are more and more studies showing that chimps and other apes understand the concept of self. Not to mention they CAN solve puzzles and problems, in fact, they can do so faster then five year old children. And they deffently have the ability to believe things that they havent seen. I suggest you do some research before making random statments based on your assumptions. Self Recongnition A good video I will try to find other sections from the special that the first video is from that disscusses problem solving.
dude, i thought you went to juvie or bootcamp. anyway, i'll make my two cents super short, or i'll go on forever. a few differences off the top of my head. we're sentient beings, with opposable thumbs, that understand the concept of death. oh yeah, and the whole food chain bit. oooh, also tool making, although monkeys and apes are known to use tools too. or 'civilization', and the whole concept of structured cities and such. roads, city centres, societies. a way of communicating more advanced thoughts, as well as the intangible. i know my last few points were very debatable, but i'm tired, and sober. :\ i think i'll go smoke now. to be honest, i am kinda on the fence about this. i think animals are just like us, but they can't talk. that's my best, not-thought-out guess for now.
First off, all primates have opposable thumbs, second of all, the majority of animals most deffently understand death, im not sure how you could say that they dont. As for citites, its only a matter of time, after all, humans only started building cites 10 thousand years ago. Yet we were still humans then.
thats from the matrix is in it damm love that movie anyways humans eventually will destroy the planet or et liest each other we are the smartest and the most valiant spieseas here no other kills as much as we do no mater if u are human plant bug fish or the planet it self no one is safe from humankind. there was a calculation done if all bugs would dissapier from the face of the planet all life would die within 50 years. if all humans would dissapier from the face of the planet all life would flourish within 50 years.
Language is what gives humans the ability to think at a higher level. If they don't have language then animals will never develop any sort of higher level thinking. That's the difference.
nice. yeah forgot about the thumbs with primates. but the rest is pretty standard. i can understand your train of thought, but do some actual research, or take certain classes in school. cities in the sense of roadways and structured society is not something to take lightly. that and the fact at how we have learned to affect, and essentially control our environment. (even terraforming to a lesser extent) let alone be able to try to prevent or ameliorate natural disasters. granted animals do seem to have an early warning system, but we are actually able to do something about it. what i mean by death is something taht has been debated by professionals and scientists for a while. anyway, i honestly dont' feel like debating such trivial things. for indepth convos, i try to only have them in real life. not being an ass, just hate trying to put my thoughts across, when the medium is an online forum.
