hmm. I am cureently looking to dread my hair in a frew days and I habve been through a few sites, figuring out thew know-how and the what not-to-do and I know I need to find a non residue shampoo, but I am having a bit of an issue with this, I want to know if This Holista Tea Tree oil shampoo will damage my hair, once I get dreads, is this stuff safe to use..? http://www.holista.com/images/pim/Holista/Products/129__3__Feature.jpg and I'm also wondeing about combs, is it possible to be able to use various plastic combs, or do I -have- to use a metal one..? Help!! D:
I don't see why you couldn't use that shampoo =D I tried pretty much every shampoo on the market and they all work hahahah. Don't start with plastic combs.. they really DON'T work, use a metal flee comb for dogs or cats.
definitely go with metal... plastic will just break all over the place and you'll be picking the teeth from your comb out of your dreads for the next year and a half lol! really, almost any shampoo will work... i love avalon organics peppermint shampoo. it makes my hair allll dry and tight. but the funny thing is, i was super careful at the beginning to follow what everyone else said, so i stayed away from the avalon shampoo because it has essential oils in it. tried dr. bronner's... doesn't work well for my hair, left it feeling greasy. then while traveling, i used my friend's shampoo because i didn't bring any with me... trip took longer than we thought... and it's brilliant for my hair! moral of this story... try different stuff, find out what works best for you! just don't use conditioner
Awesome! Thanks guys, Another one for yah, I have an 8-ounce bottle of the tea tree shampoo, About how long should that last me..?do I try diluting tricks, or mix it with anything to strech out the span of the bottle..?
you could dilute it or not, it's personal preference. i prefer not to dilute my shampoo, simply because i like to lather the shit out of my head, and then rinse for an hour lol! but i have pretty thick dreads, and my hair is pretty fine so it gets kinda funky by the time i wash (once a week) so it's kind of my ocd thing lol! but you could definitely dilute it with some water, just pour some of the bottle into another container and fill up with water, shake and voila! an 8 oz bottle will last you a while whether you dilute or not. my 16 oz bottle lasted me 6 or 7 months if i remember correctly. also depends on how often you wash.
Oh and for the don't use conditioner, maybe the first year, but I use condioner since they turned one year I don't want my locks to break orso.
use the metal one, it does a better job than plastic. you can order non- residue shampoo online, i use the Knotty Boy brand, it smells great!
