Because people are retarded and don't realize its the way that owners train these dogs, and not the dogs natural personality. It's also because humans don't learn how to co exist with our problems, we just get rid of them.

Then they need trained people, who know what they are doing, to train them and they need to live in an appropriate environment. If you can't handle the dog, you shouldn't be allowed to have it.

There's a guy in my neighborhood who has a pitbull. Supposedly it's attacked several people in my neighborhood and it's caused a major uproar, people are irrate, want him to put the dog down.

When I'm out for my daily walk, if any of the neighbors have seen him they come out to warn me. I guess the guy just can't control his dog once he gets started. Actually, I'm more afraid of the guy walking him than the dog. That man just looks like he's no good. I get bad vibes about him. Anyway, when I see them, I just cross the street to the other side to avoid any contact.

pit bulls are bread to kill plain and simple. you cant train that out of them i dont care what anyone says.

my uncle raised them as a child, a very close friend of ours raised them and is a owner of one still.

sure you can train them to obey you, they will even be loving and protecting companions to children and other animals they were raised around..

however left to their own decision making in a environment they are not familiar with (strange dogs, strange animals, strange children etc.) they are bad news.they will kill no matter how well you have trained them.

as with any rule there are exceptions,if your dog is not going to be at your side 24/7,you better pray it is the exception.

btw, i hope you didnt pay a whole lot for that pup because its not a champion bloodline. that snout is way to long for a quality bloodline.

going to a friends house this mornin and ill see if i can get a pic of a show quality rednose..

Classic HFers, jump on anything that could possibly be dramatized and take it to the extreme. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Pitbulls themselves, any more than any other animal. Pitbulls that attack people are trained to do so, or triggered in some way, just like any animal can and will be. Before you go blaming the dog breed, look at the people who usually buy Pitbulls. :p

Btw, I don't own a Pitbull personally, but the neighbor down the road has a blue-eyed. She's gorgeous. Absolutely stunning.
That's a pretty cute pup you've got there yourself.

And this IS for real, folks:

The American Pit Bull Terrier was considered America's dog like 40 years ago ~ it was gorgeous, friendly, protective:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Pit_Bull_Terrier

Granted, wiki isn't the end-all/be-all authority on pretty much anything,

but this article is a well written piece that combines all the stuff i saw on other sites.
