Arg. So what if columbus had shown up with a whole boat full of weed? What if they'd shown up and got all the natives high and sat around going like "wow dude, wtf? we told the queen to go fug herself and here we are hanging out with these trippy people in loin cloths and eating popcorn. What the hell is popcorn, I don't know but it's fuggin good. dude, check out that pipe.... Sometimes I just wonder ... like to wander when I'm baked.
What would really be cool, if instead of making the indians give up their culture and be like white people, what if the white man had gave up his culture, and lived like indians, and America was like a huge civilization of united indian tribes. And we advanced technology through that way. We would be closer to nature for one thing, and probably have a shit load of cures for diseases.
It could have eased tensions, but it wouldn't have prevented the introduction of new diseases. That would have been a buzz kill. Captain Kirk discovers a planet like that in an episode of Star Trek.
Yes I've seen that episode, there is an ancient device to ward off asteroids on that planet and its malfunctoined because there is a huge asteroid headed toward the planet. Trekkie all the way!!
Thats what i was thinking. I dont know for sure but im guessing that wasnt tobacco in there piece pipe. Maybe im wrong, but being that they lived and knew what plants could do what, Im betting they got high with the white man and then the white man claimed to invent pot for a minute or two. Shit ya all know al gore invented the internet right?
^^ no they didn't, cannabis is an old world plant, originated in or near the Himalayas. The native americans smoked tobacco, sage, and other such things.
^^^^ yeah reefer comes from asia, and spread westward...i don't think it even reached europe until after the 1500's.... the native american indians smoked a lot of shit. Kinnikkinnik was one i think, it was like berries and shit mixed together and dried. Tobacco was also smoked by the Native american indians on the east coast...and tribes of the plains in their "peace pipes". I'm not sure if they originally had it before european settlers... yea man.....indians are cool......
Europe had it long before 1500; at least since around 500 BC (see link). Hemp is what sails were mostly made from (thought the Vikings used wool, I think), it was a common crop. http://www.concept420.com/marijuana_cannabis_history_timeline.htm And yeah, the natives had tobacco long before the Europeans came, it's an American plant and tied very closely with their spiritual rituals.
