So what is it? I have Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall. What should I get next? I like the older sounding stuff rather then the earlier stuff. I was thinking about getting Obscured by Clouds. I want a nice album thats laid back. Which one should I get? Nothing Before Ummagumma.
The album I recommend that fits your description is either Wish You Were Here, which is dedicated to former member Syd Barrett. Meddle and Atom Heart Mother are also quite good, laid back albums. Animals is great, but I wouldn't say it was exactly laid back. The music is chilled but so much anger and frustration in the lyrics. So yeh, I'd say Wish You Were Here.
Very good advice. But then, it depends which period of Floyd music you're most into. If your after something bizzare and trippy, Piper at the Gates will rock your world.
well you already have their 'best'album, darkside. Meddle and Piper at the Gates of Dawn are really good, id recommend those next.
After PatGoD, Animals and Obscured By Clouds are probably my next two favorites... I recently got Clouds, its pretty damn cool!
Is Obscured By Clouds a good album? I think its Between. Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, and Obscured By Clouds.
I didn't think I'd like "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" until I gave it a chance. It's one of my all time fave albums now.
The Division Bell. It has always been my favourite pf album. High hopes is such a strong song, I adore it.
I've been a Floyd fan for decades now, and if I had to pick one (because I love them all) it would be Division Bell. That is because of the message it conveys to the audience and the awnser to the Publius Enimga: "Listen, Read, Think, Communicate" That being the total awnser to help bring peace to the world.

The Piper At the Gates of Dawn is probably my favourite, but to call it their best is wrong because it's completely different from anything else they did. I'd say their best is either a saucerful or Atom Heart Mother.
