PigPen

I have a question about PigPen ( Grateful Dead ) In some photo's I saw he seemed REALLY fat and a few years later he's thin? Did he lose alot of weight and what's the story behind that?

Just want to clear some things up deadheads

my guess is just from all the touring and alcohol he drank... he also had a type of liver cirrhosis.. which could have attributed to the weight loss

 

Well, I don't think he was ever really fat, altho drinking a whole bottle of whiskey every day plus Coca-Cola was not nice to his waistline. The drinking caused liver disease, which caused him to waste away slowly during '72 and '73.

All I can say is that Pigpen was a real Dead Head and he had a crush on Janis Joplin...............go bro !!

exactly!!! as long as he doesn't die of a heart attack he can be fat all he wants

 

He was dying from liver disease due to excessive alcohol consumption.

 

I'm pretty sure he introduced her to Southern Comfort, too.:cheers2:
