    Heya all
ok i need a bit of advice.
I have always had pretty irregular periods all my life so it came as not supprise that a week or so after my boyfriend had said "shouldnt you been on soon" i was only just geting signs of coming on.

However this month was not like any other month.
It hit me suddenly half way through the day (i usually come on in evenings) and i got my usual faint feeling and icky belly and feeling kind of dizzy. However this time it just got worse and worse untill i couldnt stand. I began to cry and told work i had to leave and suffured a bus journey home. I crawled into bed and curled up in pain.
My flow was incredibly heavy compared to usual as im usually quite light.
I put all this down to the fact that I went vegetarian a few weeks before coming on and have had a lot of stress. The vegetarianism had given me very bad toilet habits and ifigured it could have had something to do with this.

However i thought not to worry becuase i only ever really get bad pains on the day i come on and the day i come off.

The rest of the evening was spent with headaches, dizzyness and a horific belly ache.

I awoke the next day with a bad belly stil but to go with it back pains like ive never felt, it hurt to stand. However off i trundled into university thinking it would calm as the day went on. But no by 12 i was feeling so bad i had to go home again.

To day i wasnt feeling so bad when i woke up but as soon as i went to walk anywhere again i felt horrible. As soon as i got to uni i spent 10 mins just sitting on the toilet wimpering in pain. My flow again was super heavy.
However i took a pill for it (i never ever take medication so this is a rarity for me)
This afternoon i rang up my step mummy (who has 3 boys and gave birth to one girl who died at birth. She has also been pregnant numerous amounts of times and had many misscariges) I told her how i had been feeling. she asked if my flow was heavyer than usual and i said yues definatly. She described a few sympons and i said yes to all she had said. She said it sounded like i had been in the early stages of pregnancy and it had terminated itself. She said women get pregnant more often than they realise and it can happen. Now know full well its not unreasonable that i could be pregnant. and it explained the slightly extra length of my cycle.

I was just wondering if anyone else could comment on this. Tell me if it sounds like a familiar reason. I dont know why i have the need to know its just i know ive been totally over emotional (more so than usual) lately and suffering from fits of tears (not usual for me although im prone to anxiety attacks) and i have been INCREDIBLY broody (as people in the parenting forums might have noticed) its not like me at all as ive always said i wasnt really dieing to have children. It was like my body was telling me i wanted to have a kid even though my mind was saying "dont be stupid your far to young"

please give me some of your thoughts on this.

    thank you.

Well, I've had two miscarriages myself, and the pain you are describing sounds quite a bit like what I experienced. My second miscarriage happened extremely early into the pregnancy, in fact, I had taken an early HPT a week prior to when my period was actually due, as we were trying to conceive, and I had a hunch that I was pregnant and I just wanted to see those two lines! Well, the test came out very faintly positive. However, a little less than a week after my period would have been due, I began miscarrying. Had I not had predictable cycles and not been trying to become pregnant, I would have thought that my period was just a little late.

Anyway, I went to my OB to determine for sure what was going on, and he confirmed that yes, I was indeed pregnant, but I was in the process of miscarriage. He drew some labwork to test my HCG levels, which were very low, and informed me to go home and wait it out basically. He wanted me to return within 2 days for another HCG draw to be sure that it was at zero, which meant that I had no more traces of the pregnancy hormone in my blood and that I had indeed fully miscarried. If not, I was going to have to undergo a DNC. Well, later that day, I started cramping horribly, and I knew I was getting to the point that it was really happening. By the next morning, I was bleeding heavily and in quite a bit of pain. It was somewhat like a period, but much more intense.

Anyhow, I returned to my OB and found that I had "successfully" miscarried and I would not be having to undergo a DNC, as I did with my very first pregnancy.

I really think that you need to see your doctor, to determine what truly happened. If you were indeed pregnant, you need to be sure that everything has naturally cleared out, in order to prevent infection. If you happen to have a blood draw and your HCG level comes out as zero, that can be due to two things. One, you were never pregnant, or two, we were pregnant, but miscarried and things were naturally taken care of by your body. Either way, considering you've had problems with your period's regularity, you should probably see your doctor anyway.

Good luck, I hope all is well, and keep us updated!

    Big hugs...

Aww...tons of love and hugs for you girlie. :) I hope you feel better soon.

I'd listen to what HCM said. Go see a doctor, because if you were pregnant you need to be sure everything is okay....and even if you weren't and it was just a period something could be wrong, especially since it wasn't a normal period for you. My sis-in-law thought she was pregnant and ended up having a period much like the one you discribed....turned out that she never was pregnant, but had several cysts on her ovaries which caused it. It would be in your best intrerset to see a doctor either way, just to be sure.

OK so i have a super fobia of doctors...i hate them. ..spent much time with them when i was a kiddie see. ive only been to a doctor 2 times in 3 years and once of those times was just to register with him. Even though i get free health care over here.

HOWEVER ...i phoned up Jaycee and we talked ... and he said he would help me book it when he gets back in the country.. and he's going to take me to the doctor.

its odd.... now i think it could have been that i was pregnant...i feel realy odd... i told him it was like being fired from a job before theyve even told you you'd got the jeb :(

You might not have even been pregnant though. I didn't mean to scare you or put thoughts into your head with my first post, I was just sharing my experience. Hopefully, it wasn't a miscarriage, and like moonshyne mentioned, it could possibly be from an ovarian cyst. You might have had a cyst that ruptured, which is not uncommon.

I feel so bad now, I didn't want to worry you! :(

    Big hugs...

    ((fleassy))

when i read your description, i also thought that it could be polycystic ovaries, especially since you've changed your diet. please make sure that you're eating enough healthy fats, and getting your essential fatty acids. i hope that you get some answers from your doctor. do you have access to a naturopath where you are? you would get a more holistic (mind-body-spirit) healing from a naturopath.

    be well

First of all, periods are like bill collector's. You never know when or how they are coming. LMAO

Anyway, yes indeed stress plays a major part on your period as well as many other things that go on with your body like lowering your immune system which leads to many other problems.

In addition, many things can factor into your monthly cycle such as age, previous or current female problems, cigarette smoke, diet, the list goes on and on. Your best bet is to pay a visit to your gynocologist and tell him/her all your symptoms.

You think maybe a miscarriage? Maybe so, been there done that one. But go get yourself a checkup.

Good, I felt awful thinking I had scared you half to death! Sometimes I say things and don't think. ;)

Many people are afraid of going to the doctor, don't feel bad. I have a major phobia about dentists. OMG, I have nightmares about it. lol

Anyhow, I hope things are okay.

    Much love...

That sounds like what I went through when I miscarried. :&

It was not a fun time....

HOWEVER, it could be cysts...I thought that I was just having another cyst problem, until I went to my Gyno and she asked about a possible pregnancy...She took a blood test just to be sure...and sure enough, I was pregnant, and miscarrying...

I hope it's not the same for you :(

    *hugs*

Sometimes, like your step mum described women can have an early miscarriage, which is easily mistaken for a heavy period.

Unless your taking the pill... Mine used to be light and come on time, but since I started taking the pill its been awful heavy and painful

The reason i am leaning towards the misscarriage is because i am not on the pill, and i have condoms. I am in a long term relationship so its not like im sleeping about. we are in a deep and loving relationship. And yes i know its stupid yada yada but i dont beleive in taking drugs of any chemical sort and it takes a lot to make me do it.

I'm too broke to be able to afford to go to a naturopath. As a student i get healthcare free from the NHS (i think :S) general checkups i do anyway. However a private checkup like a Naturopath will probably cost me more than i can afford.

I know that periods can be different and appear in a different way... but you know when your body is telling you somehting and my body was saying "something isnt right here". Ive been havng periods for 6 years and they havnt ever settled to a regular pattern but they also never got like this.

May i ask how long a misscariage lasts? These severe pains lasted about 3 days but now ive got a tummy which feels tender but not in a period pain way. It feels like its pulling and tight...yet empty. A bit like when you are hungry except ive eaten :p its hard to describe.

A miscarriage can last as short as a few hours, to several weeks. It depends on how pregnant you were (the later the miscarraige the longer the "cleaning out" time, some of the time) and your individual uterine activity.

If you are still bleeding after 3 or 4 days, or if you notice a bad smell, bright red blood, after it has turned brown already, a fever, lots of pain, especially pain in the lower side, please see a doctor, you may need some medical help to help you recover.

Most womyn recover on their own, though. Just keep an eye on your symptoms, and take it easy.

    Blessings,
    Maggie

Fleassy this is just an idea, but you're at uni now aren't you? Are there things like womens' health drop in centres there that you could just pop into and have a chat?

I don't know whether you have had a miscarriage or not....have to say that your tearfulness and broodiness fits in with how I behave when I'm pregnant. I knew I was pregnant with Hamish when I burst into tears in a petshop looking at a kitten! On the other hand your irregular cycle could as other people have said indicate polycystic ovary syndrome, which I have, and you get all kinds of symptoms with that including heavy periods, mood swings and pelvic pain.

What I'd do is if you continue bleeding after your normal period length is to go to a doctor. I'd go to a doctor straight away if the pain gets worse or if you start to run a fever.

Take care of yourself, I hope Jaycee is coming back soon,

    love

Jaycee will get here in a few hours i hope.... i really need him right now.
