Bloody amazing film. I would recommend it to anybody, no matter how much they know about the conflict in Palestine, or what side of the fence (quite litterally) they are on. Myself being somewhat of a Pro-Palestine activist found the film to be quite pleasing. It is a harsh condemnation of the occupation, and shows how people who decide to become suicide bombers (which both the film and I condemn) go through immense mental anguish during their mission. This is to say the least, because it also shows how disparity and occupation lead to the creation of suicide bombers....Men who have something to live for are not likely to volunteer for such missions.

Has anybody else seen this modern masterpiece?

Saw it the other day, very good film. But I wouldn't be too quick to take any "messages" from it, cause I don't think that was the filmmaker's intent. There were portions that came off as preachy but I believe it was merely holding a lens to the characters and their convictions. Right or wrong: up to the viewer to ponder.

My gf and I talked about it for a while. We saw it together but with different sets of pre-conceptions going in. She read it more literally (like you), I felt this was not a propaganda piece in any way. The suicide bombers were portrayed as human, for sure, but for me they were not glorified at all...if anything, I felt the cowardice and selfish insanity of their "leadership", and the fragile mental state of Said - predisposing him to the action - were laid very bare.

There are many ways to 'see' this film I think. And that's often the mark of an outstanding film.

No, I didnt take it literally, i just set up a litteral post because I wanted to clearly state that it was not a film that glorified or even justified suicide bombings. That is the shrowd of controversy that surrounds this film, and I wanted to state that to trump any peoples arguements that say it is a terrorist movie, as I have seen people state before. I didnt take it that literally though, just a preemble...
