He seems kinda like a moderate republican. However, that's from a time when such terms had meaning of any kind. Nowadays the two parties only real differences are over who gets the money and a few emotional push-button topics to intentionally divide the voting population. But in then end, to have risen to such a high level of national office somewhere along the way you had to sell your soul to someone, and the whole thing is a masquerade designed to leave us with a feeling like we were part of it... that maybe we mattered. That being said, if he truly has a soul that is own; I can't imagine what it would be like to process everything that is going on right now, let alone make good decisions. But as for change we could believe in, we were suckers for the dream. We rode an emotional tsunami all the way from both coasts inland far enough to get him elected. We wanted hope and he gave it to us, just like we wanted. After we woke up the next morning from our giant love orgy with him... damned if he hadn't slipped out while we were sleeping. In the end, what did he give us? Seems more like the reality we were dreaming out of. Still, I figured he'd call. He was so pretty and calm and smiling. He wouldn't just go off with his new friends and play with them and forget about us, would he? But, you know, he's busy... right? Why isn't he calling? Oh well, it was fun... maybe we'll see him around. I had continued with some form of hope until his speech justifying our actions in Libya. He gave impassioned oratory... or as impassioned as he ever is, which isn't much, but his content was so hypocritical. The pawn emerges. His justification of our actions to prevent innocents in Benghazi from being killed by Gadhafi troops as a moral obligation of our great and proud nation completely contradicts our position on similar atrocities committed in the Sudan. However, there's no oil there, so apparently fuck them. And he's the new mouthpiece for the smoke and mirrors show. Disappointing. But can you blame him for the pressure to maintain some kind of control in a region that is falling apart and has been taken advantage of, by us mainly, since the end of World War II? And sits on top of the one resource that is most globally desired and definitely not lasting forever? You might, but if you go outside from reading this on your flatscreen monitor and grab your smartphone and hop into your subaru outback for a ride to the mall, you could be just as hypocritical as he is. It sounds like an easy job to drive a train. Mostly about speed control, because you've got the track guiding the wheels. Well, he's the engineer now and we went off the rails about 10 years ago. Wouldn't want his job.
A couple of years ago I asked who would Obama disappoint more, his followers or republicans. We now know the answer.
and the further the democrats go into moderate, the further the republicans go into crazy the "center" is somewhere in nixonville by now, and moving steadily toward rancho ronnie . . .
Well, he certainly hasn't done much to address the issues of the base that got him elected, that's for sure. And there appears to be little to no change, of any kind, let alone one we could believe in. But I can at least say that he didn't disappoint me personally, I had absolutely no expectations.
I'm definately disappointed that he feels he has to compromise with the slash and burn republicans. We don't need no stinkin' safety nets. Let the poor kids in school eat cake. Or ketchup, like dear old dead ronnie said. And for fuck sakes ,lets hurry and make unions illegal so the elites can get us back to a "right to work status".

I watched 12 minutes of this and I will go back later to watch it all. I blab about the republicans--because they are more obvious in their plans-but I have known what those in this movie are talking about for years. I'm glad you posted it. Thank you.
To add--I predicted 40 years ago that some day we would have to start showing "papers" when leaving or coming to cities, counties and states right here. I might be dead by then--but it's coming. Why wouldn't the elites do this?--it's a natural progression for those that want ALL the power and MONEY.
oh i'd run around in circles, tear the rest of my hair out, hold my breath until i turned purple jeez, those bananas in the dumpster look pretty good, wonder if there's any spinach today?
Lol, please define legitimate... Like it it matters anyhow, who freaking cares? Was G.W. Bush actually the legitimate president at any point?
Obama administration unveils national online ID system http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ration-unveils-national-online-ID-system.html
Bush is not in office and hasn't been for some time. He is not part of this debate. Legitimate means compliant with the requirements provided by the US Constitution, Article II Section I in particular.
Well defined, thank you. I agree, on both parts. But the debate was never on whether he was actually legitimate by the laws of the United States of America. He may well be, or not. It simply doesn't matter either way for you and I. The differences between the parties are primarily aesthetic, the cold hard realities are unchanged for any man in that position, regardless the color of his tie. I also imagine that there are a good many pressures of which we are primarily unaware, in the form of vast sums of money and the machinations of global finance. And honestly, I don't care to know every detail of their workings. The actual hope that exists for me, is that somewhere deep inside of whomever has control of the greatest military power the world has ever known, is a human soul unbroken enough to do right. That's what I wonder about.
I watched about a minute of this. Maybe there is something legitimate in there that I didn't watch, but I really couldn't stand anymore. All of the big government and global government fears are mostly crap, and are encouraged by the republicans. yes, government can be intrusive and bad, but in a democracy, it's the primary source of power for poor people. Get rid of government, and the corporations take over.
yes, Obama is a disappointment to many people, but I think that folks expected too much What a president can do is limited. Corporations, the media, and congress have a big say in what goes on I don't know that Obama is necessarily a good man working within a bad system or not though As far as not intervening in Sudan, the issue is not that they don't have oil, but that they do. China has been supplying arms and giving diplomatic cover to the Sudanese government while they carry out genocide in Darfur. China in return gets the majority of Sudanese oil output. Oil is really at the heart of the genocide We owe China huge amounts of money, they own a lot of us assets, and we kiss their ass to get them to keep loaning us money. Unfortunately, moral priorities are not considered part of us "national interests". I don't know if Obama would be able to intervene without serious consequences. Maybe he could, but is a lesser man than I thought he was. Maybe we don't understand what the limitations of the presidency are
Our (US) government has become too big and we, as a people, have become too dependant upon it. It shouldn't be for more than providing common defense, infrastructure, regulation of commerce (to a degree), and education. "Foreign aid" should be one of the first things eliminated. We cannot police the entire world -- this has been proven time and time again. It is very likely that the people we are now helping in Libya are the same people we were fighting just a few years ago and will be fighting again in years to come -- just as in Afganistan. How many are actually in favor of enforcing or furthering human rights when its their children that must be put in peril to do it. As long as the US, under any President or politcal party, continues to spend more than we make, we will all be burdened by the excrutiating taxation we now endure. Obama was elected by those that want more for less -- it was and is a certain impossibility to have that. There is really no such thing as a free lunch -- someone has to pay. As a colony, we rebelled over much, much less than we now are subjected to. As for oil from Libya, the US imports very little. Europe on the other hand, imports a substancial amount of Libya's crude. There, is the source of the urgency by some European nations to take out Qaudaffi. Then, there is another threat by Quadaffi that I will not mention here for fear of being banned entirely -- look it up -- it will not be easy to find, but it's there. In addition to owing a staggering amount of money to China, which we pay interest on, we also provide them millions in foreign aid. Another example of the FA stupidity is the amount of money our government has sent to Haiti -- for the kind of money we've spent we could have bought the place outright AND built new homes for everyone there. OK. I've had my say. Bash away.
"The" President, might be more an appropriate term to use, when one considers the difference between the application of "belonging to" and "imposed upon". In order to view Obama as a moderate Republican, one would have to view Karl Marx as a right wing extremist.
