I didn't see any of those movies last year. I'm not sure if I even heard of them...guess I don't go out much.

A lot o the big movies last year (mind you, it was a shit year for movies), seem to have been shunted from the nominations...interesting that.

need to see aviator. whoever's seen it - do you think it could be a sweep like last year?

Saw 'Ray' and really liked it. Foxx is amazing-didnt see 'Collateral', but dont agree with the idea of the same actor getting 2 nominations in the same year-spread the wealth.
Didnt like 'Finding Neverland'-didnt like that director's last film either 'Monsters Ball'-Halle Berry really didnt deserve the oscar for that one note performance -she's just not very good (and she's proved that with Catwoman)
I agree Giamatti got screwed but it was a tough year.
Think they'll give Swank a 2nd oscar so soon after her first? or will they give Bening it since she's Mrs Warren Beatty and part of the 'hollywood in crowd'?
and yeah, Leo is one of the best actors ever, not just 'of his generation' and nice to see him finally getting some props-really want to see The Aviator-Howard Hughes was ca-razzy!

Are you saying that those movies are not good and shouldn't have been nominated? Because they are all excellent movies. I hope Million Dollar Baby wins for something or everything personally.

I saw Million Dollar Baby last night.

All I gotta say is that if you're going in expecting one thing, you're going to be quite shocked.

I still think I need some prozac to avoid feeling quite suicidal & depressed today.

I hope Scorsese finally wins an Oscar. Leo was brilliant in The Aviator. It's so funny how he was a great actor when he was young, then he did Titanic and The Beach(which he was terrible in). So he lays low for a while and comes back in Scorsese and Spielberg films and does great jobs in both. And his performance in The Aviator was amazing.
