I always just assumed he was gay anyway. But my point is I am not sure how his career is going in the US but in the UK he has had limited success and nothing released here for around 7 years so I assumed it was an appropriatley timed stunt to gain media attention. On the other hand good luck to him its hard enough for a random guy to come out never mind a guy with a high profile

 

Yeah, I mean all the salsa dancers out there, especially Latin salsa dancers must be gay huh?

For me Ricky Martin coming out of the closet is about as shocking as when Rob Halford from Judas Priest came out. When I learned to Salsa Dance one of the first things the teacher told us was "Men move their shoulders, Women move their hips." When I was living on South Beach in 2000 all the young gay men looked like Ricky Martin. I called it the South Beach Gay Uniform. The tight trousers, the half zip shirt and the Tin Tin hair do. If he really was in the closet he left the door open. I think that it is a tactic to rescue him from Has Been status.

Yes, it must suck. but, you have to remember he was in the public eye since he was a child and from a fairly strict catholic place. So if he was constantly being told he couldn't come out because it would ruin him and people would be disappointed, then he probably believed it. And, it would have been very hard for him.
