How many of you get kind of obsessed with something when you first start to like it, and then get overly tired of it shortly later?

I have this problem with everything. Music for example: I will listen to a new cd for weeks, and then one day I never want to hear it again. I have the same problem with most people, and more so with girls I like. I tell myself I like them way more than I probably really do, and one day I am just completely put off by them. I'm always surprised when I like a girl for more than a month. If I'm not wearing thin on patience with them after two months I'm absolutely shocked.

Anybody else like this, with anything, or am I crazy?

The only music I don't get sick of is John Frusciante. Of course I have like a hundred albums of his so I rotate the albums.
I tend to obsesse over computer games and then hate them and delete them. The next moment I reinstall them and then wonder why.
I don't have that thing with women though. I found a good one and am sticking with her. ;)

    Story of my life.

I get these really grand ideas, like business-type ideas...then a few days later, I'm over it...

    I'm fickle like that.

With music, the less I like something when I first hear it, the more I like it long term eventually. If I hear something and think it is awesome right away, soon I will get tired of it and not want to hear it again.

People though, I tend to like/dislike consistently as long as they remain true to themselves.

This is all pretty much the definition of Adult ADHD.

I'm EXTREMELY guilty of this. And they originally diagnosed me with bipolar disorder. Stupid doctors...

I get obsessive usually when I have a lot of responsibilities, not when I'm bored.

How do you get rediagnosed if you suspect you have a wrong diagnosis?

In any case, I am like that too... not so much with people- in that im like Hacker, thought I've had my moments.

With new albums though I will play them out and what I do after that (cause i know I'm gonna do it, I put that album away for a few months to a year cause it would be sickening if I didn't) and after that its as good as new

(also agree with hacker about the cds i end up loving are usually the ones that dont hit me right away [first listening])

    It goes something like this:

You go from speedy high to severely depressed on an irregular basis. You enjoy a narrow scope of activities in your life and you focus well on them. Everything else you can't seem to finish and this frustrates you. The frustration turns to anger. You do something stupid like put a coworker through a wall or get pissed drunk and clear a bar. Then you realize what a shit you've been and get depressed about it.

The symptoms sound like bipolar disorder but the medications only help in the very short term. So to answer your question if you fire enough doctors one will eventually STOP pouring Prozac derivatives into you and figure out what the problem REALLY is.
