Are there any existing intentional communities which permit and/or encourage naked living. This was a very popular with young people in the "hippie era" and a feature of the "back to the land" movement and of communities set up in rural locations. New Zealand was no exception. Several communities made a point of this in their advertising.

    FWIW

    we used to have nudity.

In the 1970s, our kids let us know that it didn't work for them. They couldn't have their friends over. So we stopped having nudity in "public" areas of our property (~25 acres).

Ironically, every teenager in a 25 mile radius seems to know that there was once nudity here, so of course some of them stop by to check and see if there is any nudity now. I mean, just because there hasn't been any in over 35 years, that doesn't mean there won't be any nudity tonight, does it?

They trespass. And there is vandalism. Its annoying (at least).

    Your mileage may vary.

I recall Oran Mor here in Missouri having a tendency toward nude gardening...

As far as I know there has been a backing away on the nudity question in NZ in an attempt to be more main stream. Places like Wilderland were known for nudity and in a book published in 1975 prominence was given to this and as recent as 2009 a bare breasted woman featured oin the main page of their website. What is interesting about this is that the original picture (from 1974) included a naked man and another in the distance which was cropped out. When I visited Wilderland in 2010 nudity seemed to be on the backburner and appeared to be confined to the community's housing and not around the hall and internal road. Previously you could come across members naked anywhere. There is a famous story of the British High Commissioner visiting Wilderland in 1974 as Wilderland was at that time seen as a model community in NZ and his driver having a run in with a naked woman near the hall over how his official vehicle was parked. Evenso, today, they appear to be quite open on the issue and we even had a discussion and I was invited to put foreward a proposal. As I was a visitor I thought it better to not go any further.

I'm sure there are many places that are still very open to nudity, but they really can advertise that they are. There are a lot people out there whom when are told that there is nudity allowed, they take it to mean there's a lot of sex going on. Which isn't the case most of the time.

When looking for a community to join, find the ones that offer whatever else you are looking for, then ask about their nudity policies.

You could come to my place anytime and wear as little clothing as you like. 162 acres of rolling prairie, with few neighbours, it's great.

One thing that really bugs me....NO- it just plain pisses me off- is how so many people out there compare nudity to sex. Well, I've had sex while fully dressed. Naked is only a state of being.

I'll stop. If I don't I'm gonna say a lot of shit that'll likely get me in trouble.
