It really sickens me to see a young girl all fascinated with some of those people and hating Yoko Ono, Courtney Love, (i forgot one other).
I don't see the point of making this people some kind of God.
THEY WERE ONLY PEOPLE WHO WROTE SOME MUSIC PEOPLE LIKED A LOT!!!!!!!

    Why does it sicken you?
I understand that it may be annoying when people say they hate Courtney and Yoko as it annoys me too, but why is it a bit deal that people idolise these great legendary musicians? Sure they were mere mortals like the rest of us but what they did was something amazing. They not only created beautiful and meaningful music, but they changed the way we think. They opened up our eyes to the truth of this world. I assure you things would be alot different today if it werent for people like John Lennon and Jim Morrison (just to name a few of many). These people were and still are looked up to and worshiped so in turn that does make them gods. You obviously see things totally differently but this is my belief. Maybe you just dont get the true meaning and power that music has. If that's the case then i feel sorry for you.

they completely changed the direction of music. i'm not saying i worship them as gods but i surely admire both them and the risks they took to make their music have deeper meaning. before them music was more catchy tunes, but when the beatles/the doors came, music was art.

... And this replies are a perfect exapmle of what i am saying. You all are seeing them only as what they did, not as who they are/were.
Their greatest achivement was the inspiration they spread around.

These musicians deserve to be worshipped because their music gave and still gives many people a reason to live. What did Courtney Love ever do to deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Kurt Cobain? She helped bring about his death, that's what she did. You may disagree but as someone else aptly pointed out, opinions are like assholes - everyone's got one.

as humans we all want to idolize someone/something
whether it be a musican, artist, philosopher, spiritual leader, a person in their life or even a god
its part of human nature to want to look up to someone
i don't know how it originated, but its been around forever
some people take it to extremes, but its a personal choice to look up to someone
if you don't agree with it, just simply ignore them
and this is just my opinion, feel free to ignore it ~

I hate Courtney Love for personal reasons. She is an ASSHOLE as was her husband. She's an insensitive, cruel jackass. I hate her. She has no conscience. How can she treat people this way? My heart truly bleeds for the object of her diseased heartlessness.

And, John Lennon was more than a musician. I do idolize him for who he was and what he believed in.

I don't think Kurt Cobain made beautiful music, he just made noise..and he certainly didn't change the way I think about anything. Lennon and Morrison are gods, but Cobain to me was just some musician who got lucky moving with the music of that period.

Kurt Cobain was an insensitive asshole. I stand by that.

Yes, Lennon was something else. I owe it all to him.

I never liked Nirvana's music or anything from the grunge "movement". Cobain didn't really do much but sell-out an already bad genre of music. When I see kids with Nirvana shirts I wonder if they really like their "music" or just the image of Kurt.

I totally disagree with all those Kurt Cobain comments. I love his music and to me it is truely beautiful. I don't see it as being any less important than the music Lennon or Morrison made. I agree with you Citrus Seas..those kids probably do only like Nirvana for the image of Kurt and i bet their fave Nirvana song is Teen Spirit. That song happens to be my least liked.

judgement here, judgement there, jusdgement everywhere

I'm kinda glad cobain didn't had a major influence on our society, we would probably be a bunch of nihilistic junks. his music is still very important to a lot of people, including me. not every tune has to have a positive message to me, you know? the more dirty grunge bands can get me into a trance like no other music does.
don't you think lennon and morrison turned their generation in into a bunch of peaceloving junks? :H
I personally don't, but i guess there are a lot of people who would agree with the statement above. BTW i feel much more inspired by the german wandervogels if it comes to search for a better way of live than morrison and lennon.
to totally hate a person for it's music, or just hate his music is probably just as stupid as to adore someone like he is a god for it's music or image. people might have opinions that will inspire you, give you a good feeling, that's okay but i prefer to think for myself

love the shit for the reason you love it and let each other be.
