I'm thinking about getting my nipple pierced with my friend...can anyone give me any info on it.

Ladies, is it hard to wear bras, certain shirts, etc? does it hurt? does it show through clothing?

I really know nothing about nipple piercings, but I'd really like one, so any info would rock.

I've been told over and over again that YES, it hurts like mad!

I'm thinking seriously about getting my left one done... Pain doesn't bother me, but enough of it might annoy me. I probably won't be letting that stop me from getting it done.

Post pics if you do; I'll do the same! :)

    Blue skies,

i can not speak for every one but mine did not hurt... a little squeeze with the clamp and a quick poke and it was done... they healed nice in 5 weeks and i just followed the simple wash twice a day cleaning instructions the peircer gave me and now they feel wonderful.... ;) my piercers name was Jordon and he was only 18 but he was gentle..... afterwards if your clean and wear a coton bra for awhile you will be fine too :)

    all smiles :)

yes, it hurt like a mofo, but I'm a wimp about pain. I found it best to wear a padded bra for the first while - doesn't show anything and it protects against you bumping into stuff and irritating the piercings. They can take up to 8 months to heal though, just be warned... I got both done in Feb and one's healed while the other isn't (but I think that's due to a mild infection more than anything else). Just make sure you check out the place before you take off your shirt, that it looks clean and you aren't getting charged way too much (mine were on sale for $20 Canadian each with jewelry)

My nips hurt. Not unbearable, but definetly an "owe, mutherfucka that hurt" and then it happened to the other one.

Healing was tender for a few days.

Yes, you can see them through clothing if you're not wearing a bra. My GF has them and I can see them if its just a tshirt. Apparently, bras make it feel better though because they don't rub.

Just make sure your piercer knows enough about nipple anatomy and has done enough nipples on womyn to avoid the main milk tubules coming through the nipple. Most womyn can breastfeed after a nipple piercing with NO trouble, but a few have scar tissue, almost always from a piercer who didn't know his anatomy well enough, and did the piercing in the wrong place, or didn't use sterile precautions.

You are too young to probably want babies now, but you may want them in the future, and you don't want to damage their right to the best food in the world. Just make sure your piercer is well trained, has done LOTS of nipples on girls and knows what to avoid and where to pierce to prevent damage.

    Good luck.

Yeah I've been looking up on the whole breastfeeding thing, and my piercer has done alot of nipples before. I'm a little worried about the pain because I'm a wimp, but I think I'll be alright eventually.

One question though, that I was just thinking about today, for going on planes, do you think you'd have to take it out?

I've got 12 piercings, 2 of them nipples and I have never set off the metal detector at the airport. Ever.

Definitely go with the barbells, the healing will be easier and you wont be putting any unnecessary pressure on the piercing.

And use shower poufs with caution. You know, the mesh puffs that come with body wash-they really like to hook onto the ends of barbells and it hurts like a bitch.

i have both of mine done vertically, maybe it's becuase i got them done vertically but they fucking hurt, there was the initial pain and then a second pain for each nipple. he got the second needle stuck so that's probably why the second one hurt more... ughh bastard! it hurt so much. and i have my septum peirced and that's cartiledge....

it's definately different for everyone, i didn't wear a bra for a few days becuase i didn't feel like it, it was kinda painful to wear one, but then it became better to wear one, easier on the boobs and such. anyway you'll be able to judge this all for yourself and learn as you go along.

    good luck!
