I like Delays a lot. They're from Southampton and were formed by Aaron and Greg Gilbert. Their first album "Faded Seaside Glamour" was released last year and it's excellent. If you're into bands like Cocteau Twins, The LAs, The Byrds, Split Enz,... you'll definitely like them. More info can be found at http://www.thedelays.co.uk

he most elequently blends aspects of rock and hip-hop in some of his songs, but most are pretty much just alternative hip-hop. if you can't stand it just cause of it's stereotype, then you're very close minded. his poetry is not only intelligently tripped out, beautiful, meaningful work on it's own, but the beats are inventive and raw, and include actual original pieces from the instruments of friends and himself. i saw them play, and the dj dropped the mixer for a bass, saul picked up an electric guitar and the drummer kept playing(he played the beats for them)and they jammed some amazing shit for a supposed hip hop group. i'm not saying you should like it, but listen to what he's actually saying before you judge it. oh, and fearless is one of his more rock songs, if you must.

if you're interested, i'm going to post a page including the lyrics from one of his songs...

a metal-fan understands that not everyone likes metal.
a country-fan understands that not everyone likes country.
a jazz-fan understands that not everyone likes jazz.
rap-fans are too stupid to understand it's not music for everyone and just accuse the other person of being close minded

There is a genre with a lot of new bands with a rock 'n roll touch. Try bands like Sgt. Sunshine, Nebula (not to new, ok), Baby Woodrose, Unida or Hermano for example.

Although they've been around for 10-15 years, I'd recommend The Brian Jonestown Massacre for countless hours of listening enjoyment.:)

Oh, and you can go to their website and download all of their songs for free too, so if you don't like it, you won't be out 15 bucks.

Yeah, what's with all the people in their cars playing rap music so loud that the windows three blocks away are close to shattering? These people seem to forget that maybe there's somebodywho doesn't share his musical tastes and with every second of exposure is solidifying the urge to grab a chainsaw and a shovel to safely deposit the morbidly mutilated corpse after the treatment.
