Hi out there I am new to this forum and to thinking seriously of becoming a veggie after all these years, married nearly 40 years and think this will be the healthiest way forward. how do I break this to friends and family, all help will be greatly received
First off, congrats! Becoming a veggie is one of the best things you can do for yourself and the world. Second, you used the words "break it to them"; does your family disapprove of a vegetarian lifestyle? If so, I think you should sit them down and tell them exactly why you are doing it and how you plan on doing it. A lot of times people are resentful toward vegetarians because they don't understand their motivations. If your family is concerned about your health, visit a nutritionist and get information about staying healthy as a vegetarian. Once your family has a clear idea of your reasons and plans, they will most likely accept your new lifestyle. Good luck!
one of the advantages of NOT being a teen veg is we are adults and can do what we want. Now, we can't be in a situation where only one person cooks and drop the V bomb on them. so, do the research, get a dozen or so recipes and cook dinner for a few weeks, some old friend recipes like chili or stew, or pasta with veggies, or fried rice. Have a few veg convenience dinners in the freezer for times when you can't cook, and start learning which restaurants will accommodate you (happycow.net) also, that's a pretty young marriage for a 50 year old to be looking to his 50th anniversary....
