I always thought I hated rap, but a friend told me to download servants in heaven, kings in hell by Jedi Mind Tricks, and after listening to that, I relized I actually just hate the shitty mainstream ´rap´.

so.. I have one rap album that I like.. and pretty much dont know any other artists. (other than the black eyed peas and shit like that.. but I assume that the actual rap/hiphop community hates them too.)

    help me out..

I'll start you off with a couple different kinds of artists from different times so you can really get a feel for what you might like:

    Nas - Illmatic
The Wu-Tang Clan- Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
Lupe Fiasco - Food & Liquor
Atmosphere - When Life Gives You Lemons, Paint That S$#% Gold
    Outkast - ATLiens
Kid Cudi - The Man on the Moon
Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
    Elzhi - The Preface
Blu & Exile - Below the Heavens
    Canibus - Can-I-Bus
Lil Wayne - Tha Carter II
Gang Starr - Moment of Truth
Mos Def and Talib Kweli - Mos Def and Talib Kweli Are Black Star
    J. Cole - Friday Night Lights
50 Cent - Get Rich or Die Trying
    MF DOOM - Madvillainy
Masta Ace - A Long Hot Summer

I might've went overboard with the suggestions, but I tried to give you a taste of a lot of different stuff. Let me know if you manage to give some of these a listen! Feel free to ask for any other suggestions, too.

Listen to Jedi Mind Tricks - Violent by Design. It's way different to SIHKIH but it is dope as hell (all Jedi is good but those two are the best).

    Also:
Non-Phixion - The Future Is Now
Killarmy - Silent Weapons for Quite Wars
    Mobb Deep - Infamous
    7L & Esoteric - DC:2
Snowgoons - German Lugers, Black Snow, Trojan Horse (these are German producers with a lot of different American MCs so there is alot of variety)

Liquid Swords by GZA and The Cold Vein by Cannibal Ox are absolutely phenomenal albums. 36 Chambers by Wu Tang goes without saying.

I find myself getting into turntablism/instrumental hip-hop more and more as the years progress. I can recommend plenty of hip-hop with lyrics if you like, but I thought I would provide a selection of artists which are a bit different than what has already been mentioned. If you like the video above (if it appears), you might want to check out some of the brilliant artists below:

    Cut Chemist
    Invisibl Skratch Piklz
    DJ QBert
    DJ Shadow
    Kid Koala
    Mix Master Mike
    Ruckus Roboticus
Steinski (Get "The Lessons" - A must have for any hip-hop fan)
    X-Ecutioners
    Bullet Proof Scratch Hamsters
You should definitely check out the "Return of the DJ" series. Just send me a PM if you need a download link.
