go to "the writings of serge koslovsky" and fallow the links to the various musician's websites in his linkfarm.

or, of course, there's hos.com for the hearts of space compilations of the hill of wyndam hill.

(though neither are exclusively electronica, all are alternative and really high quality).

for probably the most prolific electronic music artist of all time, there is klaus shultze and there various permutations he's participated in.

my favorites from the earliest analog days, were tangarene dream. of which there are several fansites of the latter, plus, from what i gather, the're still at it.

but now adays, there's simply bunches and bunches more then i can remember the names of. really good ones i mean.

I agree with themax on Tangerine Dream (spent many a blissful evening with them on the turntable). Kraftwerk also from the "past" is good as is Jean Michel Jarre. All early electronica but there is even earlier stuff from the 50's and 60's but that's a bit before my time or rather before I was old enough to know.

A while back I found a CD by Foreign Terrain called LP1. I must have listened to it a hundred times already and am not tired of it yet. Don't know if it qualifies as electronica.

there's a website called the synth musium. i don't have the link handy. and before there was electronica there was something called musique concrete, strainge trippy sound compositions often made with fairly common objects.

i think i may have heard that LP1 at a library that had a listning room and a musique concrete collection. at least i remember something called "l's ga" and another called silver apples of the moon, or something like that.

this was way before the internet and i'm not sure i remember where that library might have been. it may have been on the campus of university of washington when i was living on my boat in lake union. but it could have been almost any of another of other places i've been as well.

i did have a bunch of both tangerine dream and emerson lake and palmer on 8-track. and i've got some tangerine dream on my hd now from some fan and official site samples.

but really i think the best way to explore is to fallow links from musician's websites to other musicians websites and listen to the samples they offer when they do.

themnax, LP is sort of recent (1998). I think the creator of the album has gotten together with someone else to produce a new album but don't know the details.

"Musique concrete"- that's what I was trying to remember, the spelling that is. Thanks. The first time I ever heard any musique concrete was on NPR many years ago. I was fascinated by it and still am.

Only have one vinyl of ELP and no record playing right now.

Yep, following links from one site to another is really the best way. LP1 Foreign Terrain might be available at soleilmoon's website.

There's another CD I found recently called "Wave of Light by Wave of Light" by Scannerfunk. The second cut is currently a favorite of mine.

How about Eno's ambient music? Or Eno and Fripp?

If you like Jazzy parts St Germain do that kind of stuff. It's like Acid Jazz/House. I'd reccomend Kraftwerk though or some Ahex Twin

musique concrete (French) is some really cool stuff. Random noises, not really electronica tho. athough some musique concrete artists might use some synth and electronic stuff in there.

Shpongle is good stuff if you like electronic music. They are pretty well known among the electronic community. Def a good one for starters.

Pnuma Trio is also a good electronic / jam / rock / trance stuff that has some jazz influences as well. You cant go wrong with the Pnuma Trio or Shpongle, or Ozric Tentacles

Amon Tobin is just the best electronica I've heard yet. He's from Quebec I believe.

His CD Supermodified is especially good.

I was corrected by a friend. Amon Tobin is brazilian. Good jazzy electronic.

I forgot Sounds from the Ground by Kin is great electronic too. Earthy, deep bass if you like that sorta thing. You really do feel like the music is coming from the ground.

    Peace.

Shpongle, Bassnectar, Amon Tobin, Younger Brother, Vibesquad, EOTO, Zilla, Sporque, The Seedling Escape, Future signals, Abakus. I know alot more i cant think of off the top of my headd. Amon Tobin is more drum and bass than anything.

Seconded. 2 very good tracks also check out welcome to europe for another angle. Squarepusher is the only true jazz musician to fully embrace electronic music that I have ever come across.

I agree with regard to Tobin, but Supermodified has a lot of horns and reminds of me of Ramsey Lewis, early jazz trio days. Jazz trios and quartets have plenty of drum and bass do they not? :)

75% of most jazz trios are drum and bass.
