New thread for my normal shit, most of the shit in the Psychedelic Art thread isn't psychedelic at all, so here you go Mr. Grizzly-Tooth IV, oil on canvas Spud, the funniest little dude on the planet and the only sane one in the family. Oil on canvas Into the Desert, kinda didn't know what I was aiming for in this but I like how it turned out. Oil on canvas Started looking for lines and shapes, something a bit different to my usual stuff but I quite like it. This is more of where I wanna be heading - could have planned it a bit better cos there's a lot of "wasted" space in the bottom left. Values mapped in acrylics, painted over in oils for vibrancy and to blend edges etc.. painted onto supawood.
Muizenberg beach, repainted this pic. Did the first version when I wasn't so sure of what I was doing, think this works better, Only 3 colours in this: raw sienna, ultramarine blue, and white. Acrylics, then oils, onto supawood. Sunrise in the Baviaanskloof, one of my favourite parts of the world - literally in the middle of NOWHERE. Pic's a bit dull, the highlights over the mountains really shine. 4 colours used: Same as above, but mixed the greys with burnt sienna and used the raw sienna for the lighter, sunlit areas. Acrylics, then oils, onto supawood. Sunset in Clan William, been wanting to paint this pic for ages but never got round to it Same colours as the last one Acrylics, then oils, onto supawood.
Something a little different, this is the second cartoony/charicature thing - still working on the first. Started them both last night but gave up on the first cos it was shite, but I looked at it this morning and it's got some potential. We'll see Standard HB pencil
Haha thanks guys, and uhh - that's gone over my head dope, sorry dude, the proportions of what kinda portions?
WOW! You are amazingly talented! So beautiful, I very much enjoyed looking at your art. I'd love to have that lion hanging on a wall. How long did that one take you?
Ahh ok, Spud and the lion are 16"x20" I think, or around there Ele's 28"x36" The girls 60x40cm Boat's 30x40cm 2 panoramics are 20x60cm Don't usually work that small, but having to cos of cost issues.. the supawood is super cheap but also quite heavy, so can't really go any bigger than that. Gonna start making my own canvases soon so I can start doing some bigger stuff again, cos I've used up all my canvases now - so damn expensive.. and thanks Jared I like him too, one of my favourites. It just kinda happened, didn't need to put much thought into it - took about 4 or 5 hours I reckon, but I can't remember. Less time than all the rest anyway.
Thank you both and yeah I do like that one, was a big step for me, I learnt a lot from it. I like doing the beach scenes too. Going to do some more, just need to get out and collect some more references
A bit less.. refined. "Looser" Did it on a course a bit ago, were encouraged to just muddle about. Little Mikey Painted it for a family friend who's just adopted the little dude, incredibly clever little guy. He actually got me thinking about this Indigo Children thing a bit more, cos he really is mind blowingly clever, for a 2 yr old.
Live painting I did at a private function at Cape Town Jazz Fest, went really well and the people loved the concept. I thought quite a bit on it, and wanted to do something a bit surreal because jazz is pretty surreal itself - so yeah the flood gates opened and I had the idea of Table Mountain being played like a piano.. then half way through I thought of the title "Creation" or something like that, nice and deep, essentially meaning the creative process of music/art is the same as the ongoing process of life and the formation of landscapes and the tides and blah blah blah. People took the biblical approach and said "IT'S GOD!!".. which, yeeeeah, but not quite. But whatever, people liked it and it opened another few doors for me, and it was a fuckin' awesome experience. Energetic as shit, adrenaline really changes the process And then Mr. Zappaaaargh, airbrushed. Literally just finished. It's not finished though, but it will have to be because I'm getting pissed off with technical difficulties, and the blue shift. Damn pigments. Edit: Found these from the course too(same one as the seascape from the previous post)
Aaaand the other thing that I didn't upload, but said I would. Wanted to do a background and shit but just got bored
I love all of your art, but this one is my favourite so far! The lighting gives it a really really interesting surreal quality. I can't stop staring at it.
