If the western world and the American public buy this marketting push it's like they are buying the WMD crap about Iraq and 09/11 all over again. Are we that stupid? Been watching ABC and can't believe the bullshit they are pushing with soundbites and video with dramatic background music. Putin hasn't been arming and doing war games with Ossetia, but the US and Israel have been doing those things with Georgia. Look at the date on this: http://www.foreignaffairs.org/20010901faessay5574/jan-h-kalicki/c...gy-at-the-crossroads.html Are we going to let the neocons force us into another armed conflict/war? Are we stupid? Georgia a pure democracy? http://www.infowars.com/?p=3860_1218339179 Will we let this happen again, shortly before this administration leaves office? Are we going to let more lives be lost over oil, power and money, becuase their marketers tell us it's all about democracy.
It's not about DEMOCRACY, it's all about OIL, POWER AND MONEY! It's not about the US or Western world vs the big bear Russia. It's about big money trying to become even bigger money while sacrificing world peace.
The US and Israel are claiming that Georgia is democratic and Russia is the ogre. But what of Lebanon a democratic country that was bombed back ten years by the Israelis. Who stood up for Lebanon, not Condi Rice or Bush. But then Lebanon didn't hold strategic oil reserves or affect the stock exchange. The Caspian area does.
Russia is an easy target, Joe sixpack still remembers the cold war. They aren't aware of the oil or the pipeline or the effect on the stockmarket.
What about the Council on Foreign Affairs they more than our congress or our administration guide foreign affairs. And in whose interest are they acting? Citizens didn't elect them, who did? Corporations? Who funds them?
What about them? What on earth have they got to do with this? "The Russian government must reverse the course it appears to be on." Russia's actions, Mr Bush added, were "jeopardising" its relations with the US and EU. He urged Moscow to accept an EU-brokered peace agreement that Mr Saakashvili has already signed. Yeah, Bush is gunning for a war, no doubt about that.
Err, Georgia was going democratic and taking institutional steps towards democracy, which Putin obviously didn't like much - since it is all about power, oil and control for him. I mean, Putin just invaded a country to conquer it. I can see why this may be off-putting for countries like Israel and the USA.
Georgia, which is backed by the US and NATO, provoked Russia by killing 10 of their peacekeepers. If you wanted to, you could say the US provoked Russia using Georgia, since the Pentagon has played a major role in Georgia for a number of years. Russia didn't just come out of nowhere and start killing Georgians. It is the Georgian military that invaded South Ossetia, targeting residential areas, hospitals, and the university. So how is the US-NATO backed Georgia taking steps to "going democratic" by launching an invasion of South Ossetia and killing scores of innocent civilians? Can you please explain that to me? It's easy for people to think Russia is the bad guy in all of this, as that is what the media is promoting. Am I saying Russia is innocent? No. But people need to at least get their facts straight before they go pointing the finger at Russia while acting like the other side wants peace. The media is having a field day with Russia, while the truth about the West's role in Georgia is being ignored. Once again, this is a manufactured conflict with neocon fingerprints all over it, yet the public is too busy parroting whatever the news is telling them to get their facts straight.
Oh I know all about the pipeline, My Hummer is thirsty an I want that oil. Sorry Gardner, just being a jerk here. :biggrinjester:
Georgia is not the pure democracy it's being painted. Some of you need to do a little research as to why so many in South Ossetia remain more sympathic to Russia than Georgia. I find it apalling at a time when US military forces have been stretched to the brink that we've sent 2000 troops to Georgia last month to train and arm them, convenient timing don't you think?
