So I have moved to an entirely new state, and a new hospital, new health plan, everything
My old state and old hospital has my "opiate use disorder" on the records. I have not used any recreational opiates for 4 years since then. And, about 8 months ago I had surgery at the hospital and they gave me dialaudid after surgery plus an opiate script to take home, just Tylenol 3's but they helped with the pain. I thought that they would never do it since that was on my record so I was pleasantly surprised.

I have moved to a new state since then, I noticed that they are asking me about my medical history. I want to start fresh, so I am not putting any old info on there. However, I do know that they use the same MyChart system, but I am really hoping that they can't have access to my old records. I also noticed in MyChart that I have to click and do "care everywhere" to "link" the two records, so if I keep my mouth shut and don't do that, I am hoping that those records don't get linked at all?

I also called "Compliance" at my old hospital to see if they could seal my medical records "for privacy purposes" I am not sure about HIPPA and patient rights in this regards. Originally, the lady thought I said someone did "steal" my medical records, but I said no, I want them sealed, because I don't want to be discriminated if I move to a new hospital that uses MyChart. Now I'm having second thoughts because I don't want to raise any red flags. She told me an "investigator" will call me tomorrow. I am thinking about just saying "no, you misunderstood me, I was moving some stuff around and my friend brought someone else to help move some stuff, there were files there, and I thought that person stole my medical records, because then I found out from someone else that they were sketchy and stole some identities, but I was wrong and have since found my files in another box, so don't worry about it, but I do appreciate you calling" or something of that nature, to cover it up, and so that they wouldn't dig further. I know I am being paranoid, but would that investigator make sure that those records get transferred or something? I would really just to erase that from my past with this new hospital. I am getting older starting to have back problems and am worried about not being able to get pain meds that easily. Has anyone else used MyChart? I'm filling my medical history form right now, and I'm really hoping I can just be a patient with a fresh start.

Maybe I'm just over-thinking this whole thing? I also have very high anxiety, but my new medical insurance covers mental health services. I'm just trying to be a normal person with good medical care. I don't even smoke or drink anything anymore. Thanks.
