Now I can't believe anybody has not brought this up yet but what do you think about this discovery? If you ask me, i think the speed of light has been miscalculated. I think when light speed was calculated that the light was slowed down by atoms in its path, even in a vacuum. Anyways, if i'm wrong and Einsteins theory of relativity has been disproved, we are going to be experiencing one of the greatest advances in physics in all of history.
I don't need excuses to post this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0XLKcMoXRE&feature=player_detailpage#t=98s
i thought the speed of light is effected by the electro-magnetic field? i'm a complete amateur though, so i could be wrong...
Maybe we have to go back to the principle that there are no perfect vacuums and there is no universe as whole without larger extensions for this Known (about observations already made) of unknown matter and unknown media for communicating energy.
The term 'light speed' is misleading. 'Light' is a narrow spectrum of energy visually observable to humans. The wavelength of a neutrino is less than one trillionth of visual energy. To say all frequencies of energy propagate at the exact same rate through all mediums is a huge assumption and simplification of physics. With our limited knowledge and capacity there are certainly holes we must fill in with assumptions and best guesses to create working models. Science essentially consists of two things, proven knowledge and most likely theories. Science is a process of taking theories and proving them as empirical knowledge. Science is continually evolving and rewriting our understanding. The media and many people want to sensationalize and twist scientific work into a pseudo-science religion of some kind. Human corruption knows no bounds including scientists, this is why scientific process requires confirmation by other parties. I don't think light speed is a constant, it certainly isn't when near a black hole. There was another thread where we were talking about the Big Bang and some scientists claim the universe expanded to a diameter of about 24 light hours in 2 minutes. If that is the case then light speed is relative to the size of the universe. The term particle is another highly misleading term. I think what we call particles are really detectible manifestations of complex spatial displacement groups. I don't think there are any physical 'particles' of anything traveling at light speed. 'Light speed' is the rate of linear waveform propagation. For energy to manifest as a particle it must collide or interact with other waveforms and form orbital propagations.
After checking the equipment another test was made and the results were still that the neutrinos were being detected before expected. (they did travel faster than light) it was also confirmed by an independent group.
