Recent things I have watched. Fawlty towers - legendary British comedy. Only 2 seasons, 6 episodes per season but left a lasting impression on me. One of the best shows I have seen. Very subtle, intelligent, well written. They don't make shows like this any more. Highly recommend! Peep show - Modern British dark humour. Very well written, sarcastic, awkward camera angles. Give it a try Breaking Bad - One of the better USA TV shows I have seen (don't tend to like modern USA TV..) Sherlocke Holmes (British version) - well written, complex, subtle, intelligent, fast paced. About a sociopathic detective. Highly recommend Futurama - By the makers of the Simpsons King of the Hill - Well written, one of the best and most under rated USA cartoons. Keeping up apperances - About a lady from a working class background who tries to act as if she is high class despite obvious indications she is not. Very funny actually. Mesrine - French flick about famous thief. Famous for breaking out of jail many times in numerous countries, stealing from two banks in the span of minutes and kidnapping a billionaire. Based on a true story about Jacques Mesrine. Recommend (both part 1 and 2) Le Professionnel (The Professional) - good!
Netflix pisses me off because they don't have City of God. I just really needed to get that off my chest. I just finished watching the Wonder Years in its entirety. I don't really like the show as much as I did when I was younger. Kevin Arnold is a little bitch.
Great suggestions everyone, keep them coming. I will compile a list of what I've been watching soon. I don't think it is on Netflix but I just picked up Robert Rodriguez's film today, Planet Terror. A must see for zombie flick lovers. Mel, I was just looking for City of God on Netflix as well as in the record store today haha. No luck.
Top Gear!!! They just put up a new season. I'm not even that big of a car fan and I love the show. The hosts, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May are so lovable and entertaining and I just get the biggest kick out of their accents. We also watch Futurama so much that we're able to recite some of the episodes, lol. South Park, too. I don't have much patience for movies, but I can tell you a few of the good ones I've watched that are on there. God Bless America was an insanely funny and quirky thriller. The Grey is a very intense movie but you HAVE to watch through the credits or you will totally miss the end of the movie. What's Eating Gilbert Grape has been one of my favorite movies since I was 14 years old. Bernie is a very interesting movie and apparently a true story. Reservoir Dogs is another very intense movie and a must-see for thriller fans.
when i frist bought that dvd, i pushed my finger into that center plstic button to pop it out and the cd broke in half...wtf never happened before gotta order 2nd copy..
I got rid of netflix because unlimited TV with no commercial interruptions is too tempting. I was turning into a serious couch potato, and just got rid of it. I think the last show I watched was 30 Rock.
man, I can't find it anywhere. Well, to be honest I've only checked Netflix and a local movie rental store. I'm sure I could just order it but I never quite get around to it. It is a really awesome movie. I messed up my computer the other day trying to watch it on some movie hosting website I spent like an hour trying to find a working link. I really should just order it.
I saw it years ago so I can't really remember. It's a drama, a look at the life in the slums outside of Rio de Janerio. I'm interested in watching it again on a recommendation.
Celebrated with worldwide acclaim, this powerful true story of crime and redemption has won numerous prestigious awards around the globe! The streets of the world's most notorious slum, Rio de Janeiro's City of God, are a place where combat photographers fear to tread, police rarely go and residents are lucky if they live to the age of 20. In the midst of the oppressive crime and violence, a frail and scared young boy will grow up to discover that he can view the harsh realities of his surroundings with a different eye: the eye of an artist. In the face of impossible odds, his brave ambition to become a professional photographer becomes a window into his world and ultimately his way out! http://www.amazon.com/City-God-Blu-ray-Rodrigues/dp/B005Q4CKLC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1364095963&sr=8-3&keywords=city+of+god"]Amazon.com: City of God [Blu-ray]: Rodrigues, Nachtergaele, Firmino: Movies & TV
