Hey hey :sunny: So could someone explain the finer details of neglect step by step Thank you in advance Peace
Most of the details involve neglecting your hair. Wash it, and if the locks form bigger than you want or start joining at the bases against your will, rip them apart. No offence, but if you need help with how to "neglect", what CAN you do on your own?

This would be the time to place bets: OP succeeds at not touching his hair, or; OP waits like a month, is horrified that his hair is tangling and not magically dreading, and then backcombs it because his friends told him he should get real dreadlocks, but he still says he has neglect dreadlocks, because he waited like 42 days before backcombing and crocheting. Or, he might even brush during that month, because he doesn't want his hair to tangle, it might keep dreads from forming! History puts the odds of 1 being about .03, and 2 being about .97.
love your hair, wash it regularly, don't mess with it too much (apart from separating), baking soda and sea salt washes... i'm 5 months in and still have a bunch of undreaded hair ~ so yeah, the best advice is definitely just to wait and not pay too much attention
I suppose I neglected to label options 1 and 2.... I have been neglecting my urge to sleep for about 5 hours, so I'm going to go and sleep on OP's question, and come up with a clear checklist of steps that, when combined and carefully followed to the T, and in the proper order, constitute "neglect". Perhaps in the morning (if I don't neglect to) I'll post it.
First off it's going to take years. Wash your hair with a residue free shampoo. Dry your hair thoroughly and rip the lumps of hair apart if they're growing to fat. That's it. If you do much else to them, they won't really be considered neglect dreads.
im at about 3 years from a shaved head neglecting it, and so far i have one awesome beava tail, and like 5 or so small fuzzy curly loops. it takes time. the first step is not do what everybody tells you to do, and the next step is get the idea you are never going to cut your hair.
Yea been neglecting it since I first made this post lol, it's not all that long but my hair looks like a mop however it actually is nicer now I wash my hair once a week with bi carb and water and its 100 times better than when I washed it every second day with brand shampoo, but I understand its a long process
