I am in the market for a USB negative scanner for 35mm. Anybody have a good experience with a reasonably priced model?
The saying 'you get what you pay for' certainly applies to a film scanner. Stay away from a flatbed model that has a sort of tray adapter, you are better off having a print made and scanning that... i tried a couple of $100 to $200 scanners and wasn't happy. after all, if we go to the trouble of shooting film, why not try to get as much of that 'information' onto the screen?! i found a camera shop near me that has a highend nikon scanner. the guy charges $2.50 per scan and they are great. that's a lot of scans before i put out a few hundred $$$.
I may have to pay big money for a scanner. I have more than 3500 old negatives, which at $2.50 each, would cost me $8,750.00 to scan.
