Hi, i just hitched from the gathering in Steamboat colorado and am now in Reedsport oregon. i need to find out where there is a comune or comunity house out here for two members of the family. Weve been stranded in oregon for 4 days now. what i really want is to find a way home to St.Louis. i lost my Road dog in Eugene and do not feel comfortable hitching that long by myself. thank you peace and love ~cales

There's a commune of sorts called the Alpha Farm you can check out...you can stay for free if you work on the farm.
hi Cales, I don't know how you'd feel about this but whenever I got stuck someplace while I was on the road I had pretty good luck knocking on church doors. I once got a greyhound ticket from Denver to Chicago doing this and there've been several times that I've gotten enough $$ to at least get down the road. If you decide to try this go to the church office of any church and just tell whoever's behind the desk what your situation is. Most church offices are open from like 9 am until 4 or 4:30 pm. Also might try St. Vincent De Paul's, Catholic charities, or the Salvation Army. Look in the phonebook for these places. You might have to knock on more than one door but hey, you're stranded so what else you got to do? Good luck sister. I'm glad you decided not to try thumbing it on your own.
there are 46 entries on ic. org for places in oregon alone.... try a bit of searching, it isnt all too hard.....try rainbow guide online as well,,, also fairly easy to do..... or go the route nudeebuttmonkee suggested,,,,
Ok, hey Dancer do you know where the commune is in Oregon? i'm tottaly down to work. anyway dilligaf, I have this years rainbow guide in my pack. there are three listings for this town. one i stayed at for 2 days, another is still in Colorado, and the 3rd is a coffee house. There not hireing. but this town is cool to be stranded in. i just wanna go. My thumb is itching!!
