Moss is the key word i was looking to ask after viewing those last pictures. I went back up and saw that you said they were growing on moss. There is this one type of psilocybe species that grows on, or near moss, and it looks extremely similar to those. I'm not going to say, thats for sure, cause i'm definitly no expert.

You gotta be 100% sure, when it comes to mushrooms, if you don't want to be risking your life.

color of the stem bruising which is like burgundy, this gives it all.

But if I look at the shape and color of the cap, the overall shape of the mushrooms , doesnt look like any. The one it could look like the most I guess is cyanescens , is that the mushroom you were thinkin of , desert?

i cant give you an id like at the shroomery and super precise terms , but I know they just arent something you wanna eat.

slimy, bright orange/red, and bruising brown....

i would assume they're poisonous. but, then again, i'm not a mycologist. but i know they're definitely not magical.

Psilocybin turns blue when exposed to air, not brown or burgundy. These resemble some psilocybian species, with the truffle cap, but I wouldn't go eating something I found out in the wild if it wasn't 100% certain.

Good things come to those who wait.

Psilocin oxidizes blue, Psilocybin doesn't from what I know. Not all mushrooms that fall under Psilocybe actualy contain Psilocybin or Psilocin.

its called the Psilocybe montana, and your right, it does look quite simmilar.
but, the caps are different! that doesnt mean much, but it is a difference.
    see this link fot examples
    http://www.fungusfun.com/mushrooms/modules.php?set_albumName=album59&id=Psilocybe_montana&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

either way, the psilocybe montana is inactive!!!
