I want to start growing my own mushrooms but I am terribly indecisive. Should I try to make my own equipment or buy it? I am pretty handy when it comes to making things, but the sanitary conditions required with mushroom growing scares me (I don't mean that I am a slob it just seems really easy to fuck it up). So I thought about buying a grow kit online, like this one. Are these any good? Also, if you have bought spores online before can you tell me what site you got them from, I just need to know that they are reputable. Does the strain matter? Upon reading through some of the strain names, it all kinda seemed like they were just making shit up. They kept using this word rizomorphic which dosnt appear in the dictionary or on wikipedia. How much does an average crop yeild, like a a cake:eek:unce ratio. I didnt realize how many questions I had until I started typing this! Any and all pointers would be welcome!

spores101.com is a reliable site to order from, but there are many others. It doesn't matter which strain of cubensis you get, because they're all the same species and therefore grow under the same conditions.

It is pretty easy to make everything on your own, and doing so will save you a lot of money. Go to shroomery.org and follow one of the teks. It's not really possible to predict how much you can expect to grow because it is highly subjective.

Also, just because something isn't in wikipedia or the dictionary doesn't mean that it isn't real, especially in regard to something that most people don't care or know about, such as mycology. So you know, a rhizomorph is a tube-like structure that extends through the mycellium; if something is described as being very rhizomorphic, then that probably means that it grows pretty fast.

Thanks for the info. Also, i wasnt finding it in the dictionary because the site had mispelled it as rizomorphic instead of rhizomorphic =P Does anyone have a suggestion of a particularly nice strain?
