did you do a brick pattern when sectioning? are the roots really tight? this may be why there is scalp, and you can't do much about it.

sticky outy...they'll relax after a few weeks. if your hair is short, get used to it.

    how did you section them?
    what method did you use?
    do you have rubberbands inthere?

they really don't stick out that much. dealing with all of the new "volume" can be difficult at first. you will get used to it.

    take the bands ouuuuuuuuuut!

eeeee you don't need them anymore. get them out before they get locked or melted in. they bind your hair, making it unable to move=no locking.

    out out out

Don't put any more wax on them and think about removing the wax that is already on.

Rubber bands are a suck idea, for sure ... but it looks like you are somehow getting the whole thing too rushed. A definite problem is the tightening aspect you are keen on. If your locks tighten too quickly, natural flow of hair / loose hair through your locks is virtually impossible, you'll end up with thin locks, all dying to phatten up.

I arrived at a point just over a year ago where I started to interfere and rush the locks forming. Of course all my locks tightened too quickly and as a result I have spent the last 3 months loosening them one by one ... which is no easy task

So ja, lay off the tightening thing, your hair was back-combed from the tip to the root … so leave your hair alone now, wash regularly with a decent shampoo / rinse, and your hair will start moving to the tip again ... cool locks start collecting at the tips and clump up towards the root ... don't get it the other way around.

maybe without the rubberbands the roots will loosen up and you won't see your scalp anymore. But sectioning is already done, can't change that. My advice: relaaaax
