Need a kidney? why don't you go on reality TV?

When does TV go to far? a woman terminally ill with cancer is going to go on a tv show, 3 'contestants' will show viewers their life story and then the viewers will bid for who should get the kidney.

Just another way the media works to dehumanize. It's nothing new.

 

This is why I don't have cable or even basic..or watch any tv anywhere.

I think I am all the better for it.

seriously. it's happening on tv right now. sometimes i just don't get it. it's one thing for a person to be able to designate to whom their legacy will go. it's quite another to make a tv joke of it.

nope. never. if i was dying tomorrow and could save my organs should my children need them, i would. i'm already an organ donor. i'm not using them, what's the difference. but making a competition and tv joke out of something so solemn and sacred is disgusting to me. but i can't help the fact that i'll choose my children's welfare over that of a stranger any day. they were a piece of me once. they'll always be a piece of me. but making some sort of sick "reality tv" drama out of people's desperation is sickening.

 

sorry, i thought you thought i was making an argument for the whole disgusting, sording nightmare. my above post was a reference to that. hopefully it'll never make it to tv. it'll be saddam's hanging all over again.

 

jeez. and my reference to it happening on TV right now was about matt's comment on the dehumanizing influence of the media going on.
