Hello, fellow hippies...I'm Zoe. I am a young hippie and my mom says that if my dad doesn't get a job by Sept. 30, she's kicking him out. I need a little guidance here.:( Help!

hey there zoe, that sounds bad, maybe you could ask your mom to give him some more time, let her know how you feel about the whole thing, I know shes probably fed up and stressed but maybe its hard to find something right now. I think you should definitley let hre know how you feel though and ask her to think about how that would affect you! anyway I hope that helped, let me know how it goes.

Hey, thanks you guys. I think I have stayed strong, and I will keep strong. But your advice helps. Thank you so much! I don't know if my mom will listen, but if she doesn't, at least I tried. She says that since my dad lost his job after 9/11, she's basically been funding the whole family. We went from middle class in NYC to working-class in VA. I tried to promote peace there. But the song "Working Class Hero" (John Lennon)? I felt like, "Story of my life." Well, Mom says she can't support Dad forever. Maybe not. But they're still my parents!

Parents can suck at some points. Society is breaking us apart. Believe me, you aren't alone. Both my parents might be jobless by winter, so I can kind of relate. Just do what you can to help and know that what's going to happen is going to happen and you can't stop it.

Try to just be the voice of reason when your Mom is getting upset and your dad is looking sad. Make sure they both know you love them and that you love being in a family. What does your dad do? You mentioned 9/11, does that have any relation to his job?

    Bright Blessings!

Maybe your family will be better off without your dad in the picture. You are leaving us with too little detail. How are things at home? How is the relationship between your parents? Between your father and the rest of the family?

If your mother and your father are together, they must help each other. Now,it's like this, but maybe one day your mother will stay home..

and ya know, you could help out too - do extra chores & cook to help free up time for your folks - your mom needs some time out to de-stress and your dad needs time to look for work.

you don't just need a 'hippie' to talk to, talk to anyone everyone has great advice they can share..i think in this case the best person to talk to is your mum and or dad. That's really a rather touch situaion, I'm really sorry..I agree with ruben though, what are the circumstances? Best of luck to you sweetie, let us know how it goes..:)

maybe your dad is still coming to terms wit the whole 9/11 .it is different for everyone.talk to your mum about it.see what she thinks they will inevitably reach thier own out come but what ever happens you will always have them both.im with soaring if you have enough food ,warmth and can get by then youn have enough......there is too much greed in this world and too many who have nothing..hope everything goes well for you

Thats a long time to be unemployed, a long time... I'm sorry, but I have lived with some drag ups and unless there is some physical disability I would be sick and tired of someone not working for four years too. There may be alot more to it than you know or understand. I would talk to your mom so that she can explain what and why she came to this decision a lil better for you. You obviously need to understand it better as it does have an affect on you too.

Why isn't your dad employed? Does he have a drug problem? Are you still living at home? I would say that if you were not still living at home, it would really be your parents problem rather than yours. But that is no reason to run away or anything either, if you are still pretty young. I might say more, but I will wait until you answer.

If is lifting of spirit that you want, try going to my personal website. You might read my other posts here too. I know for a fact that it uplifts more than my spirit. Back in 1993 I snail mailed the connections to a Jewish Rabbi(I forget his name). He set me a letter and some other materials. He wrote that he thought I was some kind of special Jew he had a name for it, but I forget what it was. I didn't like the idea of him telling me what I am. I thought I know what I am, but I didn't have a word for it. I believe that I discarded his letter after awhile. I wish I would have kept it. What I did keep from his is a newspaper clipping titled, Jesus freaks. It told about how the hippies who went religious were doing and their communes. There is a scanned image of this news clipping at my site along with many other scans of books and emails. Tell your mom and dad to find a hippie commune if all else fails, but don't break up over this stupid society's burdens. There are mp3's of Woodstock there, among 18 others.

    Good news for your Dad.

I was going to agree with Dan67. You are the "child" in the family, you shouldn't be expected to be wedged in the middle of the parents' issues. It would be difficult, but I'd try and let them sort their own problems out, for better or worse. There may be other stuff going on and you might not know the whole picture.

Just as long as they both love you, that's what counts.
