I was listening to Alex Jones today, and towards the end of the show he talked about the reinstatement of the national draft.

For a while I had passed all this draft-talk off as being little more than hearsay devised by the Democrats to scare potential Bush voters. Now, I am starting to reconsider things.

Supposedly there are 12 bills out there right now that are calling for a reinstatement of the draft.

As of right now, both Bush and Kerry are denying any plans to reinstate the draft. But we know this is not true.

My figures might be wrong, but I believe that Bush has called for increasing US troops in Iraq by 30,000.

John Kerry wants to increase troops by 40,000.

With troops stretched as thin as they are now, there is now way the desired quota will be reached by voluntary enlistments alone.

Of course this issue will probably be avoided until after the November elections.

I am also thinking that if we are "attacked" again, either by al-Qaeda or our own government, they will use this as a way to push the draft using the same fear-mongering they've been using for years.

HOWEVER, I just remembered something today (this was also discussed on the Alex Jones Show). If the draft was to be reinstated, it can be avoided by simply not giving oath. By giving oath you are essentially volunteering yourself.

It might be something like this:

1. Mr. A receives a "draft notice" and is told to report on a certain date to a certain place where he receives his physical and mental tests. Then he
is classified with a number indicating whether he is A1 (first called), all the way down to 4F (unfit for duty).

2. Mr.A is told that he is to report for "induction" into the military and to appear at a certain military base for that purpose on a date specified.

3. By "LAW" he must appear there... or a warrant for his arrest will be issued.

4. Assuming he reports as directed he will have another brief physical and tests and then is told to "line up on the yellow line (painted on the floor)

5. A Recruiting Officer will then tell all those "joining the army (or whatever)to take one step forward... (Oh, oh, THOSE WHO DID THIS JUST
"VOLUNTEERED!") This is done so that no one can "legally" claim they were "forced into involuntary servitude!" "RAISE YOUR RIGHT HAND AND SWEAR ALLEGIANCE." (almost everyone does!...thinking it must be REQUIRED!): "I, (name) do solemnly swear that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America and will defend it against all enemies foreign and domestic, and will obey the orders of the President and the officers appointed over me, so help me God."

6. Those who "voluntarily" stepped forward CANNOT NOW CLAIM THEY WERE "DRAFTED"...they stepped forward voluntarily and took the Oath voluntarily!

7. Assume Mr. B was smarter than Mr. A and HE DID NOT STEP FORWARD ANDTHEREFORE DID NOT TAKE THE OATH OF ALLEGIANCE. (the recruiter will probably say something like this: "what's the matter with you, don't you know what' step forward' means?" Mr. B responds, "sure I do, but I AM NOT VOLUNTEERING TO SERVE IN THE MILITARY...If you want me you must 'take me' against my will by force!"

8. All of those who "volunteered" will now be excused from the room, and the Mr. B will be cajoled with persuasive arguments...at first...then, when nothing works to change his mind he will be called names and insulted, possibly even assaulted by one or more military people present there as witnesses.

9.IF Mr. B does not weaken, stands his ground, eventually the tormentors will give up and have him arrested on some charge. However, there is NO lawful way that they can MAKE him go into the military, because of the Constitutional prohibition against "involuntary servitude," which is why NO ONE IS TRULY EVER "DRAFTED" AND MUST BE "SEDUCED" INTO VOLUNTEERING!

One thing to say at this point is what the cops are coached to say on the witness stand: "Am I ordered?"

If the recruiter says No, then obviously you're OK. If the recruiter says Yes, then "By what authority do you, a military officer, order me, a civilian?" If the recruiter says anything else, repeat the question until you get Yes or No.

If the recruiter says "I order you by the authority of the United States Government" then "Which clause of the Constitution gives you, a military officer, to order me, a civilian?"

Another thing to say is: "Am I free to go?" If the recruiter says Yes, then obviously leave. If the recruiter says No, then "Am I under arrest? Am I your prisoner? Am I kidnapped? If I'm not free, then what am I?" and again, keep repeating the question.

Another thing to say is: "I want an attorney."

Another thing to say is, of course, nothing at all. I think I would go with "Am I free to go?" because if you get to Yes, then you can leave and he would look bad ordering an arrest. If you ask the question three times and don't get a yes or no, then "Well I must be free to go, because I asked you three times and you won't tell me I'm not." Then I would slowly turn around and leave, and if he keeps trying to interact I would just keep repeating the question.

I saw a press-conference on MSNBC on Friday with the nazi-looking Donald Rumsfeld saying, with his phony facial expressions, "We don't need a draft." "There is no need to reinstate the draft, everything is going smoothly."

Yeah, right.

sign a petition that orders the presidents (like Washington, Clinton or Bush) to go to war in the first place, in land warfare with the lowest rank.

When they try to draft you, say "FUCK YOU". It would be better to rot in jail then to be a pawn and to kill. I'm not worried about it, cause I would rather die than kill.

Don't you mean have to sign up for that shit anyway when you turn 18? Instead of calling it a draft though they cover it up with pretty words like selective service.

From http://uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/selsvc.htm

Selective Service registration allows the United States Government to maintain a list of names of men who may be called into military service in case of a national emergency requiring rapid expansion of the U.S. Armed Forces. By registering all young men, the Selective Service can ensure that any future draft will be fair and equitable.

A.k.a "draft"

Draft Riots Feared
No Matter Who Wins in November, Draft Will Return
By Mike Blair

Regardless of the outcome of next November’s presidential election, the federal government will initiate a military draft in 2005, unless there is a dramatic slackening of the need for U.S. troops for the ongoing war in Iraq and for “peacekeeping” duties around the world.

Last June, the Senate overwhelmingly passed a bill to increase the size of the Army by 20,000 persons, and a month earlier the House voted to add 30,000 soldiers and 9,000 Marines by 2007.

If current trends continue, several military experts have told American Free Press, voluntary enlistments will not even dent the number of troops America will need for its global over-commitments.

What is going to happen in late August at the Republican National Convention in New York City many will see as a precursor of what will take place when the nation starts drafting young men, and perhaps even women, for the military.

It is expected that hundreds of thousands of demonstrators will converge upon New York to protest the Bush administration’s involvement in Iraq, a situation that may become similar to what happened in Chicago in 1968, when the Vietnam War and the selection of Vice President Hubert Humphrey for the presidency at the Democratic convention there sparked massive protests that turned violent.

There are already signs that there will be massive demonstrations against the Bush administration’s war in Iraq at the New York convention, and with the possibility of terrorist acts a major consideration, federal, state and local police officials are clearly concerned that the massive demonstrations they expect may turn very ugly.

When the federal government initiates a draft to meet its military manpower needs, which it no longer can do under an all-volunteer system, something the Pentagon clearly knows, there will be an outpouring of public sentiment against it.

Drafting means that a government program to conscript young men, and probably women, taking into account the inefficient and unworkable unisex military, is likely to cause a flap that will dwarf the Vietnam War protests, by example, and may equal the Civil War-era draft riots in New York in ferocity. Those riots required military force to control.

Already campus protesters are warming up to fight the coming draft.

As an example, a recent article in The Daily Texan, the student newspaper of the University of Texas, President Bush’s home state, compared the draft to slavery, because “someone else owns your body and mind.”

Actually, the Pentagon has already instituted a sort of draft, called “stop-loss orders.”

It has blocked the retirement of 40,000 soldiers, many from the National Guard and reserves, both of which have been drawn down to dangerous levels by extended deployments, which has wrecked the recruitment process to procure the needed manpower.

The Pentagon currently has in place a recruitment program to find 11,000 volunteers to reactivate 2,000 local draft boards around the nation, which should make it obvious that there is a draft looming just down the road.

Neither President Bush nor the Democratic nominee, Sen. John Kerry, is likely to bring the matter up until after the presidential election. That would, they realize, be a political “no-brainer.”

That's so fucking scary. My friends and I are turning draft age NOW. Kerry's not much better than Bush, but if Bush stays in office, he has no motivation to win the public support, and. . . shit. I really, really don't want to think about that.

A friend and I already have our 'draft plan'.
Drafting is equal to slavery. But, as was pointed out in the first post, most people drafted legally volunteer.
Watching the news...what's informative of it, and reading through articles on the net, I have no doubt in my mind the draft will be reinstated. Though wrong, and in some ways unconstitutional, it's inevitable. That was known the day we declared 'war'. America over does most everything it gets itself into.

Yeah, if I ever get drafted I'll just snort some PCP before I go my evaluation. Then I'll keep interrupting myself with Joe Pesci impressions, asking the doctor 'What if I were to kick the ever loving shit out of you?' and then spontaneously break out into song and dance. I mean, they can't possibly send someone to the front who may suddenly start enacting Goodfellas in the heat of a firefight can they?
