In less than two weeks I set fourth on the greatest joujrney of my life. I am driving my 66' VW microbus down Route '66 (yes that is classical Route '66, not the interstate which has overlapped it) from Chicago, IL to Santa Montica, CA. I'm not really sure what this post means, except to inform everone that I am still willing to take a leap of faith on those ideals formed by our "hippie forefathers". I expect to see our great nation in all its glory, regardless of weather or not those I encounter agree with my opinion. "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro..." - Dr. Hunter S. Thompson.
Wow sounds fantastic... especially the part of finishing it off at the beaches of california !!! How much money have you programed to spend ??
You will be supprised how little of Rt. 66 there will be to travel. As a travel route, Rt. 66 is pretty much gone. It might be more interesting to try and parallel the route on the so called blue highways.
