i just found out today that one of my friends tried meth a few days ago and has basically been binging on it since then. hasn't slept or eaten in two days. hopefully this is an exagerration, but that shit scares the shit out of me anyway. :( and i need some advice. this girl doesn't really like to listen to well-meaning advice, but is very impressionable when it comes to doing something "fun." i was going to tell her what it is exactly, what it does to you, all that.. and maybe try to invite her out more often to do non-meth activities. but agh... has anybody else been through something similar? have any advice?

yeah, my advice is if she does it all the time now, dont ever invite her into your home again, and make sure you hide your wallet before seeing her.

we had a dishwasher at my work who was into meth and he really went crazy... started getting really paranoid and hearing voices and stuff.... it was weird. this was after he lost lots of weight and started looking kinda horrible. and then he got fired the other day...

its just that judging from your post she probably wont listen to your advice and will do what she wants. i know a lot of people that have gotten into similar situations, and only they can pull themselves out of it. its willpower alone, and no amount of coaxing will lead people away from addiction if they aren't ready.

of course if she just did it for the first time the other day, that doesn't necessarily mean shes addicted. i've heard of people staying up three days after using it once or twice only....hell, when i first took ritalin for ADD i couldnt sleep all night cause i felt pretty sped up...and i'd taken the pill in the morning.....i can only imagine taking a lot of meth and it being her first time, maybe shes not even doing THAT much...?

but if she IS somehow already addicted, then thats that.

meth will destroy her. it nearly killed me... if she gets real hooked which most people do say goodbye to your friend for a few years because the person you knew is gone. seriously that shit takes over.

thanks guys... damn this is depressing.

i think she is definitely the type to do what she wants regardless... but i still want to talk to her now... bah. i don't think she has any really close friends, so i feel like i should try to take care of her, but one of her old friends tried to take care of her a couple years ago when she was cutting herself and she lied a lot to him and he got sucked in... was really sad... maybe she needs something else that we can't give her. i hate to think she's a lost cause though. argh.

i had a friend who was heavily into it for a few years, now she smokes crack and snorts coke but claims she's meth free (muuuch better......). from my experience there's little you can do to make her stop, but supporting her when she realizes what a mistake she's made is important. also yeah, don't leave her unattended in your home if there's valuable stuff or money lying around. it's sad, but better safe than sorry.
