For a change and as i had bad lice i cut my dreads short, there are now 2 inches, and stick out eavrywhere, and they arnt realy undreading and i should be brushing them out today but i dont want to, even tho i still have nits my hair is just crazy! it sticks out eavrywhere, so im making it blue and sticking em up for raves. Il get piks soon =]
i would have gone totally bald if i was you egle,,, you had that lice n nits for a good while n would be easiest option at this point,,,,... quite frankly i cant believe you let it go this long,,, kinda gross in my opinion
That really sucks. I'd be mortified. Have you tried those delicing medicines and crap? There's some pretty heavyduty ones out there..
omg im pretty sure if i had lice i would shave my head like an obese amount. just the idea of little bugs in there and the razor just seems to magically enter my hand lol. my advice egle is shave that mop, shave shave shave then when the hair comes back, let it grow in natural dread
the lice shampoos are a joke, my household caught a nasty case, we used the shampoos for 2 or 3 months, tried all sorts of at home remedies.......... Finally I Shaved my sons head (thank god i shaved mine a month before this fiasco) those fuckers came home with my kids from school numerous times, and you know how kids are, you say "don't share combs and hats" and they go to the lost and found and try on every damn hat in it to piss you off!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only way I got rid of my daughters lice was to wash with lice shampoo, do a hot oil treatment, curl her hair with a HOT HOT HOT curling iron every day to sizzle out any nits I couldn't see with my bare eyes and HOPE AND PRAY they all died!! If you finally manage to kill all the nits with shampoos and stuff, you still have to pick them out, if they are inside the dreads, well, you have dead bug eggs in your hair till the dreads are gone!!!
having kids in school, we've had plenty of happy-fun-time with lice. They suck, but getting lice does not have to be the end of your dreads. It's very simple to get rid of them. pull your dreads up and try to bun them up if you can. Use about a half bottle of rubbing alcohol (70% or higher) or however much it takes to cover your scalp. Don't worry about soaking your dreads, because the fumes will kill them as much as the alcohol itself. tie a plasic bag or wear a shower cap tightly around your head for about 30 minutes. It'll itch and its annoying and stinky, but it'll kill the bugs. Rinse it out, and watch the bugs fall out. gross. And the alcohol doesn't leave any residue in your hair, no nasty toxic poisons or anything like that. Now, you'll have to do this again in about 3-5 days because the alcohol only kills the bugs, not their eggs (though, most of the actual lice shampoos don't kill the eggs either...) so you'll have to do this process over again to kill any newly hatched critters. At this point you really should be lice free, though I would do it yet again in another 3 days....just to be on the safe side. This is a cheap, easy and very effective way to get rid of lice. It has never once failed us. Just make sure you do it in a well ventilated area, and it helps to have a friend or relative to help so you don't accidentally pour the shit in your eyes. That shit ain't cool. And ta-da! Lice free, for under 5 bucks, and without having you sacrifice your lovely locks!
yea, i have got rid of nits about 5 times, just lots of ppl i hang around with catch them from younger siblings and i get them, and short dreads mean i might be able to brush them out cos i hate my head shaved. Also less hair means the nit products work better as there is less hair for nits to hid in, I havnt had nits all the time but more on and off.
I never got lice when I was a kid, and don't even know anyone who has. Are they really so easy to get and I just don't know enough people? <.<
i got rid of nits with an organic natural nit product called Delacet and my dreads are quite long, past shoulders.. Also quasia, and neam oil work well and if its gets desperate ive known people to parafin their head, though i wouldnt do it personally. ...no need to cut hun
I've only had lice once...when I was a kid. I also had ticks once, from laying around corn fields. Big old mama jama ticks. Worst experience of my life...so be happy you're only dealing with lice. And krasniy, you probably just don't know enough little people (Kids, not actual little people.) I've actually taken to shying away from kids until I can assure myself they're not scratchy with lice. I'm scared to death of getting bugs.
all hail delacet!!!! it really does work! i have also used prioderm hideousness when the chemist ran out of delacet. i kept catching them off a mates kiddie, though all clear now (me and the little un). both worked, i prefered the delacet as its natural AND tightened up my babes a treat ;D
