Sooo,, i used the recipe from the main thread, i mixed: Bicarb, salt, tea tree & lemon juice with water, and poured jug after jug on my head, caught it all in another bowl and poured jug after jug all over me to properly saturate my dreads, and then i wrung out the excess, whacked on a shower cap, and whacked a towel on over that (and then another one over that, my head was waarrrmmm, and very heavy) These are from before doing it: And this is when theyd dried off a bit.. In conclusion.. i dont think it worked too well. My mom has said that the blonde looks blonder, and i know that some stuff has come out, but maybe not as much as i was expecting. Maybe im just not dirty enough =[ I was hoping to take a pic of the manky water, but it was pretty much clear The blonde bits always go REALLY poofy after washing, the brown side kinda stays all gluey and gunky, the brown ones dry much quicker too. Also, the blonde ones are so brittle, any clues on what to put on them to condition them a bit? So i was thinking, maybe ill try get some of this orange essential oil stuff thats been mentioned and give it a try this weekend? I ran out of bicarb.. used it all =] Am i doing anything wrong? Or should i just get rid of them and start over..
the orsnge oil will definatly help with the wax the mix u used is just to get alotta deep set in dirt and dead skin and builtup oils out it will get it very clean but wiyjout the orsnge oil wont do alot to wax conditioning try a apple cidar vinagar rince a capfull or 2 in a good bit of water rincce it thru wait a lil but then rince out alrernatives aloe gell in waterr rinced through that u can leave in ot rince out oil rtreatments especialy hot oil treatments take jojoba oil teatree oil vitamin e and lil aloe lil bit of the teatree more of the jojoba not alot of the e.. u can micx it with a lil bit of olive oil to maske it go further then mix that all with hoit water dump it omn..wait abit rince out alternative 3 cocoa butter or aloe applied directly and left on i guess they lied about wax being conditioning huh? id maybe try the vinagar or cocoa butter 1st jojobas can be lil ptocy and vonagar i bet u already got in the kitchen diulute it alot though and rince well so u dontr smell too vinagery all week
the water was at about 50 deg C, and i rinsed it quite hot too before i did a cool rinse to chill my scalp as for the conditioning, its the blonde ones that need it more, theyre really really dry & brittle =[
ofcoirse..bleaching is very dammaging actualy if u can afford the ingredients u might be best to try this jojoba oil 100% pure aloe gel and 2 or 3 vitamin e capsules ( poke a hole in em squeeze out the luiquid inside into the mix asdd a lil water to dilute it and wipe it on..leave it on a day or so then after u wash ..do the cocoa butter or the vinagar the vonagar will penetrate best though the others will deeply condition the surface and maybe lil bit in but not so much the core the oil treatment can get in deeper if u add olive oil then dilute alot and soak em but still the vinagar will probly get in deepest u may even wanna take a day to saturate em with straight aloe ..only slightly diluted get em good and guey with it then rince out after many hours
just calculated also 140 the melting point for wax is 60 c not 50 be very careful its hot enough to blister u may want to keep that ad a secondary option to the orange oil as in do the trwtment with orange then ribnce with hot as u can stand if u still see very lil resuldts then go foit the 60+ wax melt
i might try the aloe-for-several-hours idea, i found a big bottle of the stuff in holland & barrett, so i might do that. ganna see if i can get my hands on some orange oil this weekend.. would it be in the aromatherapy section? and ive heard that jojoba is good for the roots, for dryness and brittleness =] youre quite useful yknow, mr soaringeagle, very useful.
well its an essential oil lil different from aromatherapy or tinctures but some places lump em all together couldnt tell y exactly what the difference is though but essential oils are very strong
i shall have a looksie. i got the tea tree from the aromatherapy bit, but i shall lookin everywhere =]
the aloe vera gel from holland and barrett might not be any good... i got some fromthere and it wasnt kept refrigerated, and had some other ingredients in it besides aloe... so i only used it once.... i tihnk its supposed to be in a chiller cabinet...but at HB its just on the shelf.....
thats what it said on the stuff i found, but i didnt buy it cause i was ganna ask the opinion of you guys first, and like you said, it wasnt in a chiller, it was just on a shelf oh and this was a food supplement bottle, which is why i took photos of it..
yeah, i sat and figured out the temp difference, but i didnt wanna try it any hotter cause i had no one to help me =/
yea goytta be very careful with it that hot so just try the orange oil and hot as u can safely stand the aloe well id look for 100% pure without the extra stuff if u can i dont know if that extra sruff would make a huge difference or not but if u can find the pure aloe its best maybe u should look for a plant instead?
i stil havent found pure aloe over here in the uk ... well short of buying a plant.... but i seem to kill everytihng i try a nurture... i miss my bonsai tree
The key to an aloe plant is not over watering. I believe every couple weeks. No more than a few times a month. Aloe plant is similar to a cactus and should be treated as such. (It's native in Africa.) Sit it next to a window, and don't over water and you will be fine. We've been growing them for years. They can get quite big. They are common and cheap if you know where to look.
