I figured I kind of missed the boat on this one, but I’d like to make one anyways to let people know a little more about me. I go through phases where I post here and their on the board but this time around it would be nice to fit in somewhere and actually get to know some people. I’m hoping to find some friends here.

“Without art life would be a mistake.”

I’m known as CrucifiedDreams on the interweb but you can call me J, I like that better anyways. I’m from the great white north, or Canada to some. I love to read and to be outside. I love talking to people, everyone is fascinating in some way. That's one of the things I love about the internet, is the chance to get to talk to people from all over the world and learn about different cultures, and ways of life. It has really opened my eyes and my heart.

I’ll start with this poem, for I am a writer, it shows something I love to do and tells a little more about me.

    I'm Jamie and that's a million things.
I change and grow every day.
I'm a lover and poet, an artist, a wounded soul.
I'm the eye of my camera and the paint on my canvas.
I'm calm like the dead of winter.
I'm laughter and beauty if only you stick around long enough to know me.
I'm shaken and fragile, but a warrior to in so many ways.
I'm rum and nicotine and a good story or two.
I'm shyness and boldness and a mixture in between.

As the quote in my signature reads, “Art is why I get up in the morning” and it’s very true. I live for my art, and it’s what keeps me going. That quote is from a song by Ani Difranco, my favourite musician. I’ve been listening to her since I was little and she has always been a huge influence on me. Along with her I listen to all kinds of music, from all over the world, bridging all genera’s and years. I’m a geek to the highest standard. ;)

I am a painter though not a serious one. It is more a hobby, unlike my photography which will be a career soon enough.

I love movies and some of my favourite include - Blow, Clerks, The Hours, Snatch, Donnie Darko, Rent, Dogma, Fight Club, Garden State, Chasing Amy, Trainspotting, Benny and Joon, Spun and Requiem For a Dream

I dream of traveling the world and seeing everything out there. When I feel trapped in my world, I imagine myself in those beautiful places across the globe, and it makes me feel hopeful.

I’m pretty typical, a tomboy and shameless, just trying to get by day to day like everyone else. I spend a lot of time on the computer due to school work, my art work, and my pure lack of social skills (haha, I'm not going to lie) and I’m always looking for someone new to talk too, so don’t be afraid to hit me up on MSN – ravenblackdreams@hotmail.com

And you can also see more of my work here, if you’re interested – www.circleoflight.deviantart.com

    Love, peace and harmony, always.

No I've never been, but I've always fancied living in England. One side of my family is from England and I feel a strange tie to it. :) I think I would really enjoy it there.

And how are you finding the UK Forums compared to the rest of the site?

I like it! I feel like I'm fitting in alright, and everyone seems very friendly. The boards don't feel so daunting now that I have somewhere to go, just hope I don't post to much and annoy people! >.<

Ok, common question from me: are you very political?

Hmm, no I suppose not. I try to keep up with stuff. I read a lot of news online and what not, try to keep myself somewhat educated on what's going on, but I don't like getting into it with others when it comes to politics, becuase though I know some, I feel not enough to have a solid conversation and I usually just end up feeling dumb.

To find peace in my soul, contentment, to live for every moment and know that who I am and what I'm doing with my life is right and to have as many "moments" with people as I can. Moments of happiness, love, laugher, joy moments that are touching or enlightening, those small moments, I live for them.

Ansel Adams is my favourite photographer. His work is breath taking, and not only do I love him for his photography, but also work in enviromental areas.
A couple of my favourite works by him include:

    Tetons and Snake River

    Rose and Driftwood

Life really. It's a way for me to talk about things, I don't normally talk about.

What's your preferred discipline, painting or photography, or have you a particular favourite? How are you inspired in your work; is your starting point your ideas or are you inspired by form and the images that you see around you?

Your 'Catastrophic explosion' has echoes of Jackson Pollock, and reminded me to play the first Stone Roses LP.

Funny you should say that, I love the Stone Roses and am also a huge fan of Pollock, I think he was brilliant.

My passion is photography, painting is just something I dabble in. I'm inspired by the world around me. It's how I see, it's hard to explain but I'll attempt it. Most people over look things, but I see details, even when not taking photographs, I studied the things before me, like this pop can on my desk. I see the shape and the texture, the way the light hits it. I'm inspired by everyday things and try to make ordinary things look beautiful. I think there is a lot of beauty in the world, if only you take the time to look.

Is it better to burn out or to fade away?
