I love the way I dress but other people really don't seem to. I am a big fan of rainbows, flowers and bright colours and try to encorporate them into every outfit. A typical outfit is a long skirt (I have many, my favourite is patchwork), a gypsy style top, a rainbow vest top or my urban hippie top, a wooly cadigan or a jumper and my crocs or my boots with rainbow laces. I am the only person in my whole school who dresses like thism, unsurprisingly, and i get a lot of comments thrown at me in the street and things. I have recently bought a rainbow hat, and this gains most comments of all. Do you think I'll ever be socially accepted? I will never change how I dress for anyone, but I've realised a problem. Yeah, I'm 16 and I've never been kissed or asked out. I think my clothes are the problem. What are your views? And what's the hippiest university? Two years til I can leave!

People often target people who don't exude confidence. If you know you love what you wear and if you truly don't care what people think than this aura will shine off you and everyone around you will feel it...you will no longer be targeted.
Remember that high school is a big joke full of clones and snobby attitudes. You may feel inadequate..but realize that those who tease you feel even more so inadequate..this is why they aren't brave enough to branch out and express themselves the way you do.
Love yourself..you sound like a wonderful person...and trust me on this...don't pick a university because of the people who go there.
    Good luck! :)

Be who you are! That is the most important thing, to know yourself and be confident. The rest will sort itself out eventually. And I know... high school is bullshit if you are just a little bit different.

    Peace

i got many comments on my clothes (i like colors, especially on clothes) and the most of them weren't so rude (most of them, i said; there were some very rude comments from some low-intelligent people!)
you shouldn't change what you wear just to be liked by some people. i mean, do you really want to be liked by people who judge you by your clothes-style? if you like what you wear and feel comfortable in it, you shouldn't change. and if some people have problems with that - it's their problem only.
the clothes you're wearing will be totally irrelevant to someone who likes you as a person. ;)

you can choose to be lame, or you can choose to be awesome. sounds rough, but it's true. your in a place right now where unfortunatly your peers feed off of uncertainty. i've always noticed that the most popular kids in my school where the ones that didn't care what they did-and i grew up in the bible belt! unfortunatly, i didn't figure this out until i left lol.
and don't sweat not being kissed. i was only asked out once in high school. once i got out, man oh man, im beating them off with a stick! and in a happy relationship :)

I've had to deal with being different ever since I was 11. This is when I started my journey into clothing styles that weren't socially accepted. It used to bother me, but I just pretended like it didn't. I change my style alot, and I don't wear one same style at all. ALot of people think that I can't make up my mind because one day, I'll be in skinny black jeans, vans and a My Chemical Romance t-shirt. And then there's days like today, where I'm wearing polka dotted leggings and a flowy peasent dress top with flip flops. I love patchwork and hardcore music, is there anything wrong with that? Obviously, because I get alot of shit for it. But I've learned to be true to myself. That's the most important thing about clothing, just keeping it real. Keep it you.
As far as guys go. Fuck em. Your style sounds kickass and someday, a guy is going to come along who loves you and your style. I know how it feels though. This guy used to like me, and then I went blonde and I found out the hard way that he only likes girls with light brown hair. If a guy is going to not go out with you because of your hair colour or the way you dress, he's a waste of time anyway. Best to stay yourself and wait for the perfect guy who loves every ounce of you, because it's you.

Keep your chin up darlin' and don't let anyone tell you how you should look. That's no one's goddamn business but yours anyway.

wear whatever you want. would you really trade being falsely popular for being yourself? if you want friends, then be friendly. act like what you wear is the most normal thing in the world. people who insult your fashion choices are shallow and just plain mean. even though it can really hurt when people make comments about how you dress or look, keep in mind that you really shouldn't be taking cues from people who are just mean. who cares what they think?

keep in mind that no matter what, not everyone is going to like you. why waste your time worrying about trying to change that? its not possible, so just leave it alone.

remember that being different is always better than being a clone. ;)
