    alright so here they are
I'm holding up my favorite one in the first picture.
It splits into 2, one really skinny one, and another one that makes those awesome elbow buldges. It's just...awesome.

I just had my tonsils removed so please excuse how strange I look. Or at least I think I look strange. I feel strange...whatever.

you can see in the last picture the evil bastard alien dread that looms in front of my face all day

    p.s. I washed them today

    peace

i just have hairbands in there to keep the dreads together so they combine a little easier.
my dreads were really skinny and I combined 2, 3, or 4 at a time to make them fatter.

your alien dread u are so worried about looks just fine, its just hangin where it wants to now as it gets longer it willhang differently
get rid of the bands asap before they cause problems
start tying them back or something to start training that 1 to go back not forward

they look great in most pics but the 1 closeup of the back looks waxy or something is that just from the flash?

I think it's actually from the bead and the flash.
these crappy beads sometimes leave a bit of wood.
I replace the bands every time I shower.
Do you think it's still a bad idea I have them in?

the only time i've ever used wax was when I was 13 and tried to spike my hair...
    gross...

lol when i was 13 and spiked mine i used glue, lol
    crazy 80's huh..lol
well 1st off the bands arent doing u any good, the dreads u combined are very well combined and dont need bands at all
    \
its lil hard to see, but
the reason id never suggest intentionaly combining them is if u look at the roots they look semi haphazardly combined and u may find in the long run that they will want to suck in every other dread around them and become 1 big knot
you see what i mean how some of the roots seem to be pulling from areas semi far from the dread base? it seems like if left to combine where they chose to naturaly, they'd end up in a dread a different from the 1 u combined it in, that may over time cause those 2 to attach and suck in a third
intentionaly making dreads combine to me is counterproductive since they'd naturaly try to if you dont prevent it
u may start combining 3-4 into 1 sand in 5 years find u had them all combine into 2 or 3 or even just 1
if u left them thin, and a few combined where they wanted to, they wouldnt tend to suck others in as much i think

I used a bead, but took it out once it was combined at the root.

    I see what you're saying. I suppose it's time I don't need them anymore.

About a month ago they were having some trouble.

I would use beads instead of the hair ties but I can't find beads big enough.

    I'll just...pray they stay together.

Thanks for all your advice, Dread Baba.

    rings work as well
just a lil warning, glass chillums work and look great, but...accidents happen..lol
had 3 glass chillums in mine years ago and racing a guy on a skateboard down mount tabor (spelling?) in portland i was flyin along 3 blocks ahead of the skateboarder and a cop decides to cut me off, hit the curb and smashed the chillum into my eyebrow..ouch

ohh peyote stitches work great too

I would love to learn how to peyote stitch, they are so beautiful!!

and yeah...I made a bunch of clay beads but got distracted and never put them in the oven and they fell on my floor and I smashed them probably dancing around like a monkey.

    Thanks again, guys.

    Loving the dreadlocks.

I use a cut t shirt sleeve to keep my dreads back most of the time.

    works like a charm.
