i love movies that are based on musicals. like rent, chicago, and mulin rouge. im not sure if moulin rouge was based on a musical but i still love it. in rent mimi and angel are my favorites. these characters are so inspirering and the movie really makes you aware of aids and its tradgedy. I saw chicago, the musical, and it wasnt as spectacular as the movie. but i still enjoyed it. anyone else share this interest? i recommend these movies to anyone open to the musical theme.
Chicago, I liked alot. Moulin Rouge however, got a little boring after awhile. Rent, I haven't seen, what's it about? The best musical I've seen in years was "Reefer Madness the Musical". I'll repeat what I said on a previous thread concerning "Reefer Madness the Musical". "I saw it, and I fell out of my seat laughing"! "This is the only musical comedy where every musical note, every movement of dance and every funny line perfectly and seamlessly underscores and punctuates the fullest meaning of every scene of the story". "And the story itself is perhaps the most brilliant expose' of the psycho-pathologies that comically and tragically produce the absurd behavioral patterns of our American Gothic-Puritan culture that I've ever seen on film". "In this film we clearly see the repressed absurdity of what we think of as everyday normality". "You have to see it to believe it"!
I love musicals so, yah I like movies based on musicals. I like the ones you've mentione even though they are the sorta mainstream ones... I like music man, south pacific, guys and dolls, west side story, joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat, hair... I could go on and on. Most good musicals have a movie made about them anyways, so there's lots to enjoy if you can't afford a ticket.
